Anyone know where the oil level sensor is and how it works. I was thinking if the fill method might affect the possibility of an air bubble, then we might need to be careful about stuff like having to level the car, fill with a tube, etc. This might account for the somewhat erractic readings that Danny was getting. And it could be bad news if we overfilled as a consequence.

Strap Wrench purchased at sears for $12.99 17mm Snap-On Socket and Ratchet BMW Oil Filter $18.00 BMW Oil $48.00(12 quarts) That's it. I was going to use my old Redline Oil that I have left from my old car, but wasn't sure if it meets BMW's LL-01 standards, so I played it safe and went with BMW's factory stuff. Have fun and post back with any questions/concerns. Danny

with talk of metric and imperial, funny how things soundso much better in imperial like 17, 18 or 19 inch tyres BUT with 235, 245, 255 etc mm tyre width on 8 or 8.5 inch wheels.
we don't bat an eye lid then. same with a person's height. somehow it's easier to visualise a 6 foot tall person instead of 180 cm tall person. go figure.
