% Discount on a build w/ many options

I have looked around about negotiating new cars, including on these forums and it seems largely based around stock/availability.

I dont have an idea how much I should expect to save on a build.

The car I want is a 135i with the majority of options. I have heard of people getting 15% off floor stock with time, 10-12% off with ease in short time but these weren't builds.

I have no idea what I should expect and how to go about it, everytime I try to be direct with a dealership I get some sales rep asking me to come in and blah blah blah.

There is no chance of me getting this as floor stock even if I wait.

Are builds simply hard to get the price down on?

I am gonna call around smaller dealerships tomorrow in the hopes I find one who wont be meeting their annual allotment or whatever.

I think the ones I have been dealing with have the majority of their customers just walk in and pay sticker.

FTR I got quoted 106k with a cost(invoice) of 101.5k.

They have a hard way of saying "Please go somewhere else, lots of people will pay full price for our allotment so we dont want your business"

Where about are you located? Floor stock start to cost $ to the dealer as soon as they fall out of their grace period, and i.e. attract more discounts. A built car hence is always going to be more expensive.

1 series as far as I know is on promo, i.e. it should attract good discount. A way to work out a rough amount is the advertised price (such as one on bmw.com.au) and the list price. That's yours, and your normal discount should be additional to that.

You could consider going to a broker. I bought my car through Private Fleet, and was very satisfied with the service and the price. They ordered it through Brisbane BMW, and the handover was just as nice as if we had've gone direct. BTW, my car was an order. You could expect to do a bit better with the financial markets down at present. Good luck.

I know the original dealership I went to told me they were sold out on 1Ms. Manual isnt for me anymore anyway.

I have heard mixed things about car brokers. I am waiting for one to get back to me although I actually made progress today myself, the dealership I was at the other day really were wasting my time. I think when buying a new car the best approach is to just call up with a firm figure and go from there.

If you insist to factory order dealers are usually quite stubborn on price. If you are willing to shop for used or even demos you'll save quite a handfull. Theres afew very well optioned DCT 135i's going for sale at the moment - nav, sunroof, PDC on the mid $80s.

And I guarantee you, under current economic conditions ANY car is negotiable.

Had a good experience at Sylvania, managed to get everything sorted today, ended up getting 10.5k off. I can now go back to concentrating on work.

Now its just waiting.

I think so, papers say March design, October build and December compliance.

I saw a fully optioned VO 1M coupe for sale at Worthingtons near Gosford on Monday. Its in their showroom and they didn't have a buyer at the time. They claim they have another on the way which isn't sold.

Take a discounted floor stock car and retrofit the options you want. For eg' a place in Brisbane can do a retrofit of the factory satnav/idrive.

Even with the other 100, I think it is still hard to find. My dealer got a third - December build for April but it is spoken for.

However, I am sure there will always be someone who decided to pull out, so if you want one, you will just have to ring around.

Also, my suspicion is that there might not be another 100 exactly - but they are filling the spots that people who has made deposits for. So, could be more, or could be less. With the AUD at the moment, it is very profitable to send more cars to here .

Guys bit of help. I put a deposit down for a 1M about 1 month ago in hope for the next allocation for March/April. He keeps saying they dont know yet and will know next week (but that was 2 weeks ago)

He said I am 1st or 2nd on the list if they do get allocated and was sure I would get one. I guess I am just worried that he is trying to find someone willing to pay higher for it.

keep ringing them or try other dealers until you find one, then ring the original dealer and say your going with this other dealer unless you give me a build date. some other forum members have had cars sold out from underneith them.

which dealer are you dealing with?

Canterbury BMW. Is that the same as actually having a build number allocated to my name, ie I should be signing something with those details

About $115 but I didn't pursue it because I am happy with the M3. It had almost all the options available.
