We were discussing if it would have been more beneficial for Riss Racing plenum to be made out of plastic or metal...You are entitled to your own opinion, but don't threadcrap Silverbullet135i's thread.

You do realise that if you do a dyno run with the hood open, any observed changes are pretty much irrelevant to the real world when your talking about ram+/- cold air induction systems?

Why not do some rolling acceleration tests on the road or some quarter mile trap speed comparisons?

Since you seem to want to comment on something you don't know the facts on, I'll correct you. The intake and plenum fit perfect without having to modify anything. There is a bracket that is made for both the 135 and 335. It does not have to be modified for the 335 and fits perfect. It is "optional" on the 135. SHould you decide to use it, you need to take the 335 bracket and cut it at the specified crease line in order for it to fit for the 135. But, it is optional and is not required on the 135, so I did not install it.

On the topic of construction materials, I would have personally preferred if it was plastic, and that was what I was expecting. I metal plenum is alot heavier than it needs to be and I really don't think that it looks at home under the hood.

I find it interesting how the pictures first released of the plenum on the group buy, don't clearly show how "weldy" it actually looks. I thought back then when those pics were posted, that it looked like it would be a nice addition to the engine compartment, but after seeing the user pics, it now looks much cheaper...IMO.

When I had mine in, I didn't think that it was a complement to engine compartment in any way.
My dealership said they didn't care if I have a aftermarket intake on the car, but the RR intake and plenum look so drastic, I do not think I would leave them in.

BTW, I don't own an after market intake or plenum. So no fanboi posts from me promoting one product at the expense of another.
Thought the exact same thing as soon as I opened the box. The welds are horrible. Not sure if I want this half fast job thing in my car.

This thread got big real quick.

My thought to people that think the engine bay should look "pretty".
Buy a honda then you can chrome it all out, problem solved.

I bought this because it serves a purpose, its not for looks, its for performance. Yeah the welds could have been alot more precise but it wasnt, and It wasnt about to upset me, I hardly ever open my hood anyway.

That's what I figure, I would rather be faster with less show than be slow and have bling under the hood...

I am assuming you have their scoops as well?

I don't think looks should take precedence over performance, but there's nothing wrong with having both, especially at the prices we're paying for these parts. If a part needs to be ugly to function properly (like a big BOV or fuel regulator with large hoses sticking in random places) then I'm all for it, but that's just not the case here. It doesn't have to be "bling" to look good. I'd prefer something that looks OEM personally.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, or our vendors, but this part just doesn't look like it belongs under the hood of these cars. It's made out of sheetmetal simply because that cheaper than having one made out of plastic for low volume pieces.

If you guys are happy with the part, then more power to you, but I think you're probably in the minority.

Ok then, you can buy the Gruppe M one.
If you want pretty, full carbon fiber.
But I hope you have deep pockets and a third job.

Why would I buy that when there are other options that are more inline with what you paid for the RR stuff?

You whine like a little girl every time someone challenges your opinion. It's comical. I'm a disgrace? That's coming from a paid shill!?
