The stock suspension of the 135i gives it a lower look, and the wheels fill the space more. Overall, it looks different, dare I say, the 135i looks sportier. The Msport 128i looks nearly identical to the stock 135i, pretty much the same except for fogs. Sure, for most people who don't know, they look similar if not the "same", except for the base 128i. I actually think I would have preferred the 128i Msport fogs. Last edited by RPM90; 09-11-2010 at 12:21 AM.. |

Its a convertible so no spoiler and in my case no badges so if you don't get down on your hands and knees then I believe my original post still stands
But if makes you happy I am aware that I don't have a 135i but my original post did not say that now did it

I test drove two slightly used (less than 5000 miles) 135's before buying the 128. And the only reason I didn't get the 135 came down to money and options. The first 135 I tested was a 6MT black 'ette/black exterior. It only had 2400 miles on it, and the CarFax report already had it in for the HPFP failure. I had heard about the problems with the HPFP, and it made me probably more concerned than I should have been. The other issue was that the car was listed at $32,600 at a Chevy dealership and that just seemed too good to be true. I drove it twice and fell in love with the Turbos. My wife really wanted leather seats, however, and the stock radio didn't do it for me either. The wheels had already been replaced, and I just couldn't understand why someone would spend money out of pocket to replace the wheels and then trade it in to a dealer instead of selling it privately, after only 2400 miles and one HPFP failure.
With all that in mind, we were reticent to take the plunge. Something did not compute. So, I went in and offered to take the car for $30,000. They wouldn't budge. The car had been on the lot for about six months. We walked away over $3000, and I must admit I kicked myself several times immediately afterwards. We tried another slightly used 135, but this one had already been de-badged, and they had done some mods, and again, I couldn't understand why, with less than 3k miles on it and money out of pocket for a few mods, someone would dump it so quickly. We knew we weren't going to make any deals with this other group, so finally we decided that if we couldn't get a good used 135, we would settle for a factory-new 128, and custom order it to our liking, and wait the eight weeks for delivery. Long story short, I test drove the 128 exactly once, with a paddle shifter model, and I decided that it had more than enough power and pick-up to make us happy. That's all I really wanted to find out - after driving the twins, would the naturally aspirated engine feel like mud? And the answer was a resounding "no". I couldn't wait to drive it with the 6MT. So, in the end, if we had the money, I never would have gotten into a 128. I would have been as blissful in the 135, but driving the 128 is a remarkable experience in its own right. The 128 feels like "driving", whereas the 135 felt like "going". But I would still love to go and test drive the '11 135, just for another nip at that twin turbo heaven...
