New N55 Tune - JB+ Quick Install!

Great news for the N55 Community!! Something I have kept under wraps for a while but now I can officially announce it and provide you some details. Exciting news

JB+ for the N55!

Quote:

Hey guys,

This isn't the Stage2 many of you have been asking for. But believe it or not we actually get more requests for an N55 quick install tuner than we do for Stage2. So we've been developing and testing this over the past few weeks.

I finally had a chance to do a little dyno testing and I have to say I'm quite impressed with the results. The power gains are very similar to the JB3 Stage1 only install time is reduced to seconds. The device attaches to the MAF sensor which sits right in the center of the engine bay. It literally takes you longer to open your hood than it does to install this. Will make a video soon.

For the testing we did a fresh baseline and then a few JB+ runs with the results attached below. The best part is the DME is aware of the true boost values without triggering tuner codes. So you get perfect OEM quality mapping only with 2-3psi more boost. Because the DME has the true boost values you can now use a BMS CAN Tool to accurately monitor boost in dash via the OBDII port. It also has a small dial for fine tuning. Very cool! Attached is a video of a stock run and tuned run for boost comparison.

It does not have lagfix like the N55 Stage1 so it's a little less responsive down low. Instead it's smooth and OEM like. And when you get on the gas the extra power and torque is very noticeable. Overall it's a nifty product. Retail price is $279 and we're looking for beta testers.
Here is a dyno showing the gains. Completely stock car on 91 octane

OK - so I'm completely out of my element with this stuff, but wouldn't mind adding a tune to my N55. Can you explain the difference between this and the JB3? I gather the JB3 adds more power? I don't tend to drive the car hard (which begs the question, why bother???) - will I even feel the difference at low revs, using the JB+? How about the JB3? And I assume this is easier to install? I guess I should remove it when I take the car in for service?

BTW: to any dealership reading this thread, my questions are all purely hypothetical - I would NEVER mod my engine!

Thanks.

I guess my product announcement thread got moved, so have to alter my classifieds post.

I am happy to announce and awesome new product for the N55. The JB+ for the N55. Stock is currently limited so we are doing a pre-order system. First few orders will be filled quickly but there may be a delay depending on stocking as its a new product and hasn't been mass produced yet.

Can't wait to get everybody's feedback on this!

Cost is only $279.00

Its slightly less powerful then the JB3. Main difference would be down low. Install is much simpler on the JB+ so that is its primary advantage. Just like the N54 JB+ you sacrifice a little power for ease of install/uninstall in a more attractive price as well

So from the site it say plugs in the MAF. This sounds pretty tempting.....

Mike - in that second video (jb+) it look as you hit redline the hazard lights flashed - like it does with a JB4 shift warning. What was up with that? Does the JB+ offer this feature?

Dackel
The in dash boost display and shift light are from the CAN Tool which plugs right in to the OBDII port. You can add it to any JB+ order for $80. Also does hidden code reading/deleting.

It appears the JB+ actually makes more power than the JB3 dyno on your website? Am I right here or missing something?

The testing was done on different days so the baselines are different. But overall performance on a dyno is very similar.

I am wanting to know the same thing as I am still learning about all of this...

Will I have issues with the JB+ if I have exhaust on the car (stock downpipe)?

Once removed there should be no trace. If you are worried about codes get the CAN Tool as its only 80.00 bundled with the JB+ (179.00 regular) and with that you can read and clear the ECU codes (if any) before going in for service.

Mike,

So this JB+ wont help the turbo lag at all but also make it worst, is that what you saying?

Since what I really want for my car is make the throttle more responsive.

So will JB+ do that for me?

Or is it only available on JB3 N55.

The JB+ will not cause turbo lag. We are saying the JB3 has an aggressive lagfix so it increases low end response and from reports completely eliminates the stock turbo lag. The JB+ will help get rid of the turbo log but not to the extent of the JB3. Hope that clears it up.

There should be no codes left with the JB+, but many people like the peace of mind to have an external code scanner.
