I've had loaners from my dealership several times and they have never told me I had to fill them up, thus, I feel no reason to complain about them driving my car a couple miles to check their fix. In fact, it was one of these loaners (128i) that got me to buy my 135is!

Plain and simple, I just want to be treated with respect when I'm at a dealership.

To review: You pitched a fit like a little girl over +6 miles on your odometer. You went home and cried on the internets. Then you went back to the dealer and cried some more, so they threw you a bone to get you to just shut up already. Now you think this is reasonable adult behavior, and will likely continue to misbehave in public.

The business comping you is not an indication that your complaint was valid. It's an easy way to make you happy and get you out of their hair.

I doubt anything anyone says is going to change your point of view, but you have a long life ahead of you if you continue to think that people owe you things such as a quarter gallon of gas when they gave you courtesy loaner in the first place.

Best of luck with your repair going forward. I'll send my condolences to the dealer.

I'm still laughing at complaining about 1/4 gallon of gas. That's less than $1. They are probably thinking "Why does this guy even have a BMW if he is going to complain about $1" lol

Honestly, I love my 1-er but seeing how many different models a tech works on during the course of the day, to assume they went joyriding in a 135 is reaching. The car's been in production for 5 years... I'm sure they'd much rather joyride in something else/newer, ie M6 Gran Coupe! Now if on the other hand you went in with a full tank of gas and came back with 1/2, then I would raise the issue with the SA.

I've always been told to bring back with whatever I was given which is about 1/2 tank.

I'm guessing people are missing the point. The gas was only a small portion of it. The techs were rude/unprofessional, told me to come back Monday when then were still open. When I informed the manager about the situation, I told him gas was the least of my issue since it was only 6 miles, but I wanted to inform him about how I was treated. This SoCal dealership is known for bad customer service, especially on Yelp. So for people who keep saying I am uptight about gas, it's more of the customer service.

They gave you a full tank of gas, a watch, a $250 gift certificate, and a $50 gas card?

What dealer is this? Crevier or Irvine BMW?

I'm sorry but that's just not enough, no matter what dealer it was.

I, too, was once very offended by the look the service rep gave me when I asked them to fill up a pepsi bottle I found halfway with 93 to appropriately comp me for the tech's six-mile joyride in my entry-level vehicle. His attitude was unprofessional and disrespectful.

I got some M-logo flip-flops and a pair of nice shorts for my trouble.

I found another problem on the way home from the dealership- they didn't even set my clock after working on the electrical system... can you believe that? I plan on going back tomorrow so that I can get a pair of pants and maybe end up with a decent German ensemble.

Now that I think about it, they need to upgrade my flops to sneakers. They should throw in some socks, also, since new sneakers tend to aggravate my bunions.

Perhaps then they will have learned how to properly treat a customer and we can all move on for this ordeal.

btw does anyone know what code P30FF means, I think I might take it to the dealer. They told me over the phone that they're closed indefinitely due to remodeling. I'm not sure what's up with that, but I think they may be lying.

I have had issues with Braman BMW in Miami Before.. I actually just finished detailing my car using Swissvax (2 step polish and a limited edition wax costs around $2000) and when i took my car in i couldn't put enough emphasis when i said "DO NOT WASH MY CAR!!!" When i got back to my car, i saw a receipt for the "Generic Braman Wash" which is a automatic carwash with bristles... (SWIRL MARK CITY!) After learning this i complained to the service manager and he told me that he would detail my car for me.. I reminded him that my detail wasnt just ANY detail.. it was a SWISSVAX detail. He argued that he couldnt help me.. I'm sorry guys but being jewish i cant take NO for an answer.. I then proceeded to talking to the general manager about my issue and threatening to contact my lawyer to sue for personal property damage.. 1 week later he gave me a $1,600 credit which then turned into my BMW PE.

EDITED:

I forgot to mention that while my car was in for service, A random plastic piece (later i learned where it went) laid on my carpet. They took my tank from a half tank to empty tank, and they took my car on a 60 mile joyride. I guess 6MT bmw's are rare in miami because they had a field day with mine.

Your car is an extension of yourself. Keeping it perfect it just another way of extending yourself. haha

I know it my sound frivolous but last time i was at the dealer to have my oil changed they neglected to put the paper liner in over my floor mats. Needless to say when I picked my car up there was a foot print on the floor mat that obviously WAS NOT mine.

To make a long story short, after a week or so of back and forth the dealer ended up just giving me a brand new M3 in exchange for my car. At first I was a little upset as there was some talk of the M6 instead but I guess this is okay for now.

You settled for the M3? Surprised you let the dealer take advantage of you like that. Better luck next time.
