Final JB3 1.4 version is done...yes really:)

>>> FINAL 1.4 >>>
8.5_BT has minor changes to air/fuel ratios under boost on all maps, revised oscillation fix for colder climates, and stronger lagfix in hot climates.

This the final version according to Terry, and he is now focusing fully on 2.0.

I have been running 8.5 for a couple of weeks in the cooler temps now and I have noticed it is smoother and more predictable. We did have a hot day a couple days ago and it still felt more responsive then the previous version on my car. Oscillation is basically none existent now as far as I can tell. My car always had an issue with it being a recent build with the newest software version from BMW. Terry did a lot of hard work and put in a ton of hours refining these maps and it really shows.

For those of you waiting for 1.4 to be final before buying, it has been final for a little while now, and all JB3's shipping will have the Gen 3 boards that will be able to be upgraded to the 2.0 version later on.

If you have any detailed question feel free to call me or PM me

Brad

HP is not going to change that much. Terry was refining the overall drivability functions of the maps. The power comes on smoother and has made fuel adjustments for improved Air Fuel ratios.

This latest 1.4 definately rocks. The power band is much smoother, especially in the top RPM range. Happy to have upgraded

8.5 has been out for beta testers like me for awhile now but it is finally refined to the stable version that Terry is happy with based on feedback from all the beta testers.

So all new purchases will have the revised 1.4? I am going to take the plunge shortly and want to be certain that I pick up the updated version.

Thanks.

I had a problem with oscillation on 8.3 but this final version took care of that. Silky smooth!

I was at a dyno some days ago and had a chance to change to lataest 1.4 during the runs. Changed from several months old version of 1.4 to this 8.5 and picked up 16hp and some torque on same map7

Do not have the graphs now. If anyone wants can find them and post here

in any case 1.4 rocks and the car became so much smoother across the rpm!

I had 1.3 (or a beta of 1.4, not sure) in mine for a bit when I first installed it and the upgrade to 1.4 came in the mail from BMS last week - it's smoother and drives better than the previous did. I run Map 4.

What is the key difference in 2.0, and is there a projected release date? Reason I ask is that my 2010 135i arrives in several weeks, it may be spring before I decide to do the JB3, might be worth waiting for 2.0 out of the box so-to-speak. And maybe around then, also ditch the run-flats, and consider BMW performance suspension (all of that would likely be all of the mods I ever do).

2.0 will offer laptop flashing of the unit, custom tuning, map selection via laptop, data logging, some minor refinements as Terry always finds a few things to tweak here and there

2.0 basically signals a transition to a laptop/PC based interface for the JB3 and should be released at the end of the year/early in the new year. No set ETA right now. I just got the interface cable and will be doing some testing with BMS in the next few weeks Waiting for my beta version of 2.0 software for the fun to start. I will be keeping the forum updated on the testing, so say tuned for some threads in the next little while.

Thanks for the 411 Mike -- any chance we'll see Mac OS X compatibility, or will I have to boot up Windows?

You have a burner, or access to a burner? I have one, and I think Mike has one. It only takes a minute to flash a prom, and the usual 15-20 mins to get into the DME compartment.
