stett charge pipe manufacturing flaw?

i just received mine today from the group buy and the inside of the tube has lots of metal flaking (looks to be solder) that easily flakes off... the outside of the pipe is smooth but the inside is like coarse sand paper... anyone else have their pipe come like this?

it's much worse than it looks.

what did you use to clean it up? seems like i would need some kind of drill bit with a stiff brush head on it to get all this crap off.

Ouch that looks pretty nasty. Does Stett have anything to say about this?

they said it sounds like the internal coating didn't adhere... so they offered to send me a new pipe... i think i might try to chisel it out first tonight, and if i'm not satisfied with the result i'll send it back... i really wanted to install it this weekend...

I will tag along with the others and say you need to contact Stett and get them to replace it. Don't take "It will be okay" for an answer.

If it were me, I wouldn't accept it back, if you messed with it, then wanted it replaced... Get the replacement now.

yup their customer service is good... i asked if i can attempt to clean it before i returned it and he said that's ok. i'm going to use a stiff bristle brush and see if it gets rid off the stuff in there. to best describe it, it's kinda like solder dripped onto a service and breaks off easy, so once it's all broken off (breaks should be clean and not bring the powder coat with it), it should be just as smooth as the outside. if not, i'll just return it if i feel there's any risk of metal flaking into the engine.

Don't even bother with trying to clean it up yourself. Just send it back and get another one that is produced properly.
