EDIT: New LED AE question! (Don't wanna spam new thread)
Hey everyone,
I was contemplating whether or not to post this elsewhere in the forum but I thought it'd be best to get fellow aussie's to help me out here. I just have a few things I want to clarify so I can start a bit of modding when my 125i gets here! 1. Is there a difference between 128 and 125i? Would mods that fit on 128i definitely fit 125i? 2. Can the 125i be equipped with bmwp or aftermarket intake and exhausts? 3. Is the BMS powerbox illegal to install (for NSW)? What are actually the legal limits of engine modding? Ah I thought I had more, I'll just add if I remember any! Thanks heaps in advance for any help given. Last edited by Jon.; 01-06-2011 at 10:27 AM.. |

Hi Jon.
I'll try and answer as best I can for you, others may (will) correct or clarify further. 1. No, but trim levels differ. Yes, except you need to be mindful that some mods are RHD/LHD specific. 2. Yes. 3. Non-mechanical mods don't typically require compliance plates. With any mod make sure you have an insurer who is understanding of your passion and is aware of the changes so you don't have a problem should a claim arise in future. How long until your car arrives? |

If you you can find the threads that will help you track the ship your car is on. You'll need your 7 character alphanumeric VIN. In the meantime, welcome to the 1addicts support group

Hi John and welcome!
Great to see the 125i getting a look in - they're plenty of fun and if you like keeping revs high - she's the one:-) Any more q's just drop a line - I found the forums a great place for info when going through the (sometimes tedious) sales process! Cheers and welcome again! Alex |

2. Yes you can request the dealer to have the parts fitted from factory. IMO unless they are given to you at a significant saving, it's not worth it since you'll be paying LCT on the parts. BMWPE is amazing on the N52, the intake however is definitely not worth the cost. 3. Since it's essentially a throttle remap and a bit of timing advance, you should have no issues. Legally, it'd be impossible for the cops to even find it. If you're in Sydney, Mr. Taymaishu here will show you how to 'familiarise' yourself with the car

Thanks again =) And yeah I figured that I'd rather get an aftermarket intake. Looking at the injen one right now? The bmwp is just crazy expensive.. (would this be a legal mod?)
Alsooo, has anyone gotten LED AE's fitted on their 1-er? I really want to get brighter LED rings for my car but I don't know what option is best for Australian owners. I wanted teh Bavarian LS-1's that were just announced but shipping was quoted like 300 which is ridiculous and they seem to be too bright and cop attracting. Any thoughts? |

Hey Jon.
I've modified my 125i with the BMS powerbox, and it is perfectly legal. It is an awesome mod and you should definitely get one. And i have bought BMW 128i parts and they fit perfectly. |

To chylld:
Sorry for the late reply.... I've modified a lot of parts on my car.... Most of lighting i've changed were 128i parts and a mixture of 125i parts. The BMS power box is compatible for 125i's and 128i's and it works fine with my car. All of the carbon parts from mirrors, front lip, rear diffuser and boot lip are from iCarbon and on the site it say's for 1's series which is all 1 series, and all of my parts fitted fine. So you will be fine to order 128i parts, and they will fit fine. Have you ordered any 128i parts chylld and they haven't fitted??? |

thanks J.Seeto. i've only fitted the powerbox and love the throttle remap, but will probably be taking it off soon. and won't be buying anything more for the car... but good for other people here to know that they won't have 128i part compatibility problems
