yeah it just doesnt seem like the smartest thing that they wont even put in a trunk pull or something somewhere in the car...it just makes more sense than making it all electric and a pain in the ass...the trunk is where i put my jumper cables and not being able to get in there doesnt make much sense...yeah you can jump it from under the trunk but that doesnt help much unless you keep your cables in the car

If you can get into your car, why can't you just fold down your seats to get into the the trunk? There's a button on the top of the seats that you push down and then just pull the seats towards you.

No button on top of my seats. The only way to fold them down is with the seat release pull handles INSIDE the trunk.

Don't worry man, you're not the only one: a guy in Oz with a new Nissan GTR couldnt get into his car as he left his lights on and drained the battery. No traditional key slot. No lights on warning function either in this car so could not have been prevented.

Dont feel bad, I did the same thing so I know how you feel... I was lucky I have ski bag and could remove it so I could reach through and drop the seats to get to the hoffa handle. Sucks that BMW removed the key lock in the trunk.

I went and looked before reading the 2nd page and up. I was pretty sure there wasn't one there on mine. (7/09. production.) Greatly relieved to come back in, find the thread again, and find I wasn't just ignorant about the keylock that isn't there after all.

if you have a spare key you might be able to pop the hood, and connect jumper cables to the battery terminals under the hood (they are covered with a red rubber cap) ,and then hit the trunk release.
Never tried it, but it should work... |

That does make sense, but man, who's genius idea was it to remove the keyhole in the first place?

One could question the placement of the battery in the trunk as well...
I was moving long distance and packed up both cars and a moving truck and we were literally pulling out of the driveway and realized the G35 had a dead battery, so I had to spend 10 min unpacking all the crap in my trunk, jumping it, and packing it all back up (this was before I realized there were infact terminals under the hood) |

Unless you do the keyhole cover modification, discussed on another post on the forum, then you are really screwed. You'll have to call a tow truck driver with a set of jimmy shims to break into the car.
