BMW Color Code A61

Hello all,

I drive a 2009 135i convertible in crimson red / taupe. The color code is A61.

Today I went to my dealer and bought the BMW ColorSystem Paint Stick Set in code A61.

It is labelled A61 "Carmine Red". Apart from references to the opera Carmen, huh?

It looks like the right red, but wet paint and dry paint often are 2 completely differed hues.

The part numbers differ, but A61 seems to be common.

Carmine Red = 51 91 0 427 960

Crimson Red = 51 91 0 427 870

Any ideas?

Thanks

Do a test strip on stiff piece of paper and see. It's possible it's the same formulation. If it doesn't match take it back.

I checked with multiple dealers and they all came back with the same thing. I'm guessing BMW's marketing department just changed the name at some point and didn't update everything. I've used it and the color looks good.

Yes, this is the right color. I've just bought one.
