Question Warranty up March 1, no need to extend?

My 2009 135i only has 19,000 miles on it and I have never had any problems with it, just routine maintenance. I don't foresee myself driving more than 6-7000 miles per year for the next two years. I'm pretty sure it would be a waste of money to get either an extended BMW warranty or extended maintenance package.

Thoughts?

Waste, if your car has shown itself to he reliable so far, its just not worth the several K bmw asks for extended. Plus you put very few miles on it. Id take my chances.

My 128 has been a maintenance hog ever since the warranty ran out.

Just a perspective.

Our 08 135 has over 100,000 on it now, and after 50,000 the only repairs was the replacement of a couple of sensors, so the extended would not have been worth it. We did extend the service to get the oil changes and brakes, that was pretty much a break even as the brakes lasted far longer than we expected (I think 88 for the front and 92,000 for the rear).

It's gambling to be sure, you are putting up money hoping something goes wrong, they are taking your money hoping it doesn't need anything.

this. the dealer service prices are so inflated, and the chance of things not happening is there, so it really is a better route. not a good value imo. the only reasonably possible things that would make it worthwhile would be like catastrophic transmission failure or injector failure imo, which are rare. def just set aside 1-2k for repairs. if they don't happen, keep the money.

Sounds good, with my car having such low miles I don't foresee any major problems anytime soon. Should I try to get the dealer to replace spark plugs before my warranty is up?

My turbos took a crap at 49,930 so I was very lucky. I only extended the maintenance warranty and I think that was a waste, but nice to know no maint. dollars will be spent until after July 15, 2014.
I'll be passing 60K next week.

Good question...power train warantee? May be worth it? Turbos are expensive.
But other than that if you have a trusted mechanic all other parts and issues can be taken care of outside fo BMW.
