How to make the PE quieter after DP install?
Just got a VRSF downpipe put into the N55 and the car is twice as loud as before the DP. Burbles are intensified/extended, some loud pops, overall sound is much louder.
I've tried setting the CAN flap settings on the steering wheel but don't notice a difference with the 3 options (open/closed/factory default). Exhaust sounds like the CAN flap is always open. Is there a setting I'm missing after the DP install? Any way to reduce the burbles and overall loudness of the exhaust? I had no idea adding the DP to the PE would be this ridiculous. And I'm not even talking about WOT. EDIT: my DWGP is set to 60 (default) Last edited by inevitab1e; 03-17-2017 at 05:14 PM.. |

Well you just made your exhaust more "open" so it is going to be louder than before. Replace the PE with a stock, non PE exhaust.
Exhaust just adds sound anyways. No "real" performance gain from it. |

I figured out a problem with settings. There was no way this loudness was normal. I had my menu 12 set to 0. Changed it to 2800. That seemed to quiet things down. Phew, was worried there.
I think I've done WOT runs with menu 12 set to '0' unintentionally, would that affect the IGN or other #'s in a log negatively? This is what menu 10,11,12 are set to w/ my N55. I don't hear any rattling Menu 10 = 3000 Menu 11 = 0.5 Menu 12 = 2800 I do notice a weird oscillating and reverberation "drone sound" coming from the exhaust around 2k rpm. Not sure what that's related to. Anyways, just took a drive with the new settings. http://www.datazap.me/u/inevitab1e/l...0&data=1-3-4-5 This was earlier today, just pulling in a garage.
