Soften My Ride
I love my one series, but need to improve the ride for my spine. I've been reading the forums and this is my take. Change runflats to standard tires and switch over to Koni FSDs. Any thoughts?

+1. Just put some right size Michelin Pilot Super Sports on it and after break in (around 300 miles) tell me if you really need your ride any softer.

I can also tell you from experience as I'm on my second 135 now, that the one thing I didn't like about the first one was the jarring ride, which I always assumed was due to the suspension. It wasn't until years later, researching possibly getting another one that I started to learn the runflats may have been the culprit all along. After swapping them out for the michelins, I can tell you the ride quality is now perfect for me and solved the issues I think you are probably similarly experiencing. Love the bluewater metallic by the way. |

Swapping out the runflats for conventional tires will yield a major improvement to ride quality, but don't forget to get a tire mobility kit in case you get a flat.

Get regular tires(not RFT's) and go with a good shock/spring combo. Koni Yellows and say Eibachs or Perf Springs or Cobb springs.

Hi there. My situation is similar to the OP.
I have a bad back, but like to torture myself by going at the track pretty often during the warm season over here (Quebec, Canada). Does anybody have experience or feedback about the Cobb sport springs, using stock shocks on a 2011 135i with M-sport package? Im aware that they lower the ride height by about an inch, but are they really more harsh, similar, or softer than stock springs? I realize that a full blown coilover or higher end spring+shocks are probably better, but also cost 5 times as much... Specs for Cobb sport springs are below as a reference:

definitely make remove the runflats before making any other changes! i think that alone will improve things dramatically. the runflats are horrible tires imo. just place a can of fix-a-flat in the car...and use better tires!

Agree. Change the tires first... get some michelins or some nice continentals and go from there before swapping shocks.... but yes.. shocks would be next.. Konis generally have a much more foriginvg ride than Bilstein. |

Update: Replaced RFT's with 225/255 Michelin A/S 3's. Nice! I'll give it a few hundred miles. Maybe no need Koni's. We'll see. Lots of substandard blacktop here, bumpy. Perfect car for the island. Hope you all are stayin warm. Much Aloha.

Glad you switched from the run flats. The Konis/Swift setup rides extremely well, as does the Ohlin R&Ts (if you are looking to spend a little more money). The Ohlins have the DFV technology which allows for the suspension to blow off little bumps that may be noticed with the stock suspension. If you were considering going to a coil over setup this would ride the best!

Would be better to go with PSS imo; they are shockingly great in wet, to the point of being better than a regular A/S tire in dry! You will give up too much in dry with a A/S.
