LOL - I bet there was a pretty penny he lost - good work Andrew Such a shame, a car with so much development only to be behind the hands of someone who couldnt ever use it! At least now it will get some work

Congratulations Andrew. Sorry for being off the boil everyone. My excuse is that I had a rather poor two calendar quarters. But, hey, life moves on as it does so well, and so I shall not bum you all with details. I am very pleased Andrew has the 1er he put so much blood, sweat and tears into. It is a very special car and is in the hands of some very special people. SBM put their money where their mouth is by showing so much interest in making it their pride and joy. I am thrilled that I will get to see it whenever I am there and what new pranks it has been up to. It is after all a very naughty 1er!

Went for a drive up the black spur today with the BMWCCV and some of the guys on M3Post. It was good to put a face to the usernames...and get some time behind the wheel.

The day started off foggy but we got there early with a coffee to ease into it. Cars turned up quick quickly and before we new it we were off.

This car has serious power, i new it was quick but even with the 275's you lose traction constantly which is not so great when you are heading towards the spur. It actually feels edgy or like as you accelerate the car cannot put down the power. I really need to spend some quality time adjusting the suspension, i will definately raise it and want to change the settings. I need to feel comfortable because as you accelerate now combined with the traction loss you get the uneasy feeling and it doesn't inspire confidence into the corners.

As much as i have driven this car locally previously, while doing the stages of work, there is nothing like 'driving' it for extended periods of time to see what needs attention and improvement.

Besides what i felt was a poor suspension set up you cannot go past the power this thing has, just incredible how this car pulls up hills and pulls and accelerates. Put it this way i was never wanting more all day and i have never felt that before in any car. Definately brought a smile to the dial.

I'll be doing a small talk on 135i's tomorrow night at the BMWCCV meeting if anyone is interested, turn up and say Hi

Andrew was it just the suspension setup? I would have thought the grippy tyres and proper LSD would have improved the rear grip beyond it's current standard level which is laughable compared to how the engine puts the power down.

I was kind of hoping swapping out RFTs (in about 5000kms for me) and fitting an LSD (after warranty expires) would fix the rear grip under anything more than 50% throttle.

I have a feeling Prof's car...I mean Andrew's car (lol) is too stiffly sprung at the rear. I have driven it once with Prof and I thought it was a bit skittish at the rear as well. I have offered to help Andrew by giving his car a good drive given how much experience I have with the 135i at the limit. While the car has a lot of power, it shouldn't be so skittish with a 275 tyre at the rear unless cannot get enough weight to the rear due to the rear being too stiff. Also, given how much power it is putting out, and it has a sprint booster, you have to be extremely sensitive with your right foot.

Congrats Andrew and to the Prof as I am sure it's gone to a good home. Let me know if you want to get rid of any more parts from Prof's old car..

Haha I don't think so. I am done with spending money on cosmetic enhancement. The only cosmetic enhancement I have are the carbon mirrors and black grille that I ordered at the start. Everything since then serves the purpose of going faster!

Man, that was pretty bad form. I thought it was supposed to be a car club.
From my experience car clubs are supposed to be about having fun and most of all CARS!!!!

Huh? Dry carbon is a lot lighter than metal! But anyway, that is not the point. The point of getting that kit is that the front will be 2.5 inch wider each side. Car is too understeery for my liking still despite all the suspension and tyre mods, so this is the only way to go.

Sarah and Andrew, what happened at the BMWCCV meeting last night?

Fibreglass is just as good as dry carbon for a bumper... That was my point. . Bumper don't need to be that strong. The way you drive it you will smash it in pieces anyway ...
