New 118d M Sport Convertible
Picked this up on Tuesday after 10 week wait.
Love the Performance Grilles (fitted before delivery), they match the high gloss Shadowline perfectly. (Thanks Angus for the pictures of yours, that convinced me) Doing an Angel Eye upgrade next week. Only other planned mod is a Sports Aerial. Then I'll just enjoy and keep reading about the great things you guys do to your cars!

Congrats! My sister's car is exactly the same as yours- white 118d M Sport Vert with the same equipment save for Comfort Access and she's got CR seats. The diesel is quite torque-ey and the car goes quite well.
When I got my Performance Grilles, I gave her my chrome-line 135i grilles although now seeing yours with the black grilles, I think I've got to order a set of black ones for her too! LOL |

The stock grilles have a chrome look surround and black vertical slats.

Tune it? May add just a bit more fun to the ride
Great little car though, a million k's to the tank with the roof down. Make sure you have a good hat and some sunscreen. |

No experience with tuning. What do you suggest / recommend?

There are a lot of guys on here that may add some comments, my only experience is with ESS on the N54 in the 1M so can't say anything re a diesel or any other engine spec, I'll just shut up now. Waiting for the experts to chime in

Beautiful car! Is the 118d same engine as the 320d's? if so Ive heard good stuff about that engine and tuned can come close to 330ds.
I might be wrong, only heard it from Dan, a fellow member who owns a one. |

The engines are the same - N47D20 - they are tuned differently.
118d - 105kW and 300Nm Torque 320d - 135kW and 380Nm Torque Have found a Tuning Chip from RaceChip (www.racechip.de) 105kW to 133kW 300Nm to 335Nm $228AUD delivered. Have NEVER tuned anything... What are the risks to the ECU, engine, warranty?

Is it flash or piggy? If it's piggy you can just remove it each time you visit the dealer whereas a flash you'll lose everything when the dealer flashes over it. Also for the price it looks like a steal!
In terms of warranty, BMW will try to stuff you whatever and whenever. I have a 135i and throwing a procede was probably the best thing I've done to it. I wasted to long to get over the warranty crap, now looking back i should of done it day 1. Also a tune shouldn't harm your car - look after it well mechanically and everything should be safe and sound. Only downside is I haven't heard of that tuning company before. Most of us are either with procede or JB on our n54 and the support team is amazing. Try asking Wassell2381 on the forum, he's got the same engine so he should know a lot more. |

Not sure I'd go for something that costs $228. Just seems too cheap. Have a look here: http://preisliste.ac-schnitzer.de/ac...360&ID_NR=5630 Nice gain and it comes with a warranty. From memory these go for about $2000.00 though. |

Congrats on the vert.. Nothing like the wind in your hair, or in my case, in your scalp..
Just traded my 135i vert, and can tell you that these 1er verts are awesome machines. As far as a tune goes, like the others have said, pay a bit extra, and go with a more reputed tuner. |

Congrats and welcome. Nice car! A tune would be a nice addition especially considering its the same engine as the 120d, so you know the gains are there, they just need to be unlocked

Very nice Vert.
Just in time for summer. Best looking car in the 1 series range until the very limited 1M convertible is released in 2013. That's right Joe you will be trading your VO in soon. |

Try Ecotune. http://www.ecotune-scotland.co.uk/vehicles/cars
I've got the 120D E87 LCI and I have tune mine with Ecotune. They go like a bullet Check Ecotune out, Stan who is the director is great. It's simple plug N play. |
