Cool Reverse Mounting BBS LM

I have another thread going here on the refinish process of my BBS LM wheels:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=798080

However, I'd like to get some input from people who might possibly be running more aggressive wheel sizes, suspension setups, and offsets.

Current setup that I know works for sure:

Front:
  • 18x9 et40 with 5mm spacer (et35)
  • 225/40 (KDW V2)
  • -2deg camber, stock toe
  • Rolled and pulled fenders
  • KW V2, Vorshlag, M3 control arms

Rear:
  • 18x10 et50
  • 255/35 (KDW V2)
  • -2deg camber, stock toe
  • Rolled and pulled fenders
  • KW V2

Reverse Mounting (More lip, deeper wheel, more polish showing):

I've taken measurements of both the thickness of the mounting part of the barrel (7mm +- 1mm) and the mounting face of the center (9mm +- 1mm)... So, I figure an offset difference of 15-16mm. Most references I've read say that the difference ranges between 10-15mm. Reverse mounting would pretty much be like putting a 10mm spacer on the front and 15mm spacer on the rear.

Here is the setup I'd like to go to:

Front:
  • 18x9 et24
  • 215/40 (Ventus V12)
  • -3deg camber, stock toe
  • Rolled and pulled fenders
  • KW V2, Vorshlag, M3 control arms

Rear:
  • 18x10 et34
  • 245/35 (Ventus V12)
  • -2deg camber, stock toe
  • Rolled and pulled fenders
  • KW V2

Any input or experiences would be greatly appreciated from people who have tried different things and know what they are talking about. Links to threads and/or photos would be awesome.

Man, with all the work you've put into those wheels you better show off the lip! That setup would look badass if you can pull it off. Very aggressive.

It would definitely look great if you could pull it off. I think that an ET of 24 and 34 will push them out way past the fenders though. How much work is it to try the reverse mounting and then switch it back if it doesnt work? Can you just remove the center sections and flip them or do you have to completely disassemble the wheels and remount the tires?

Well, the tires can be mounted when you remove the centers, so it wouldn't be a big issue.

I'm thinking about doing a test fit with the centers only attached by like 5 bolts.

If it is that easy then I would at least try it and see what happens. Worst comes to worst you just switch them back. I say go for it. You took all that time polishing the barrels you might as well show it off!!

I know. The only thing I'm worried about is damaging the powder coat on the front side of the centers during the test fit... I was thinking I could probably use some tape to mask it off so that when it's bolted together the metals from the barrel and center aren't touching one another...

Ideally, I should have done the test fitting before getting them refinished... but the weather wasn't cooperating and I don't have a garage.

Yeah tape or some of that real thin sheets of packing foam would probably be even better. It will give a little cushion so that there would be no marring of the surface.

I can see a decent need of camber(4 or 5 degree's at least) and a ton of fender pulling for it to fit.. But it would look awesome. I can't imagine the practicality of it.

Eek ^^^ That car does not look good IMO. Way too much stretch. If you can find a way to add camber and get more tire on there it might look good.
