Installed TC Kline Coilovers today :)

I am about to order the TC Kline setup, but was told that there might be some noise at low speed from the shocks? Anyone experienced this and how loud it would be? Do they mean a rattling noise or a sqeaking noise?

5mm spacers/longer lug bolts to make up for the 5mm spacer.

The noise they are talking about is a light "clunking" noise which is coming from the camber plates. Are you going to run a staggered or non-staggered setup? If you are running non-staggered you will need spacers for the front if going with 18x8.5 all around. You can purchase the spacers from TC Kline Racing.

I will keep the original wheels for now. For some reason they are saying it has something to do with the dampning on the dual shocks?

I believe it is the spring rate, not the dampning. What type of driving are you going to be doing? Also, what are the roads like where you are at?

I will be doing mostly street with a few track days here and there. I keep my track time for motorcycles.The roads here vary a lot in SF bay area. I am not too worried about a stiff harsh ride, I much prefer having everything as sporty as it gets, but don't want to be annoyed by rattles or squeaks.

mikeo, are you referring to the link you provided in this thread? If so, maybe there is a glitch in the forum because I do not see a single post in that thread with specs from Bosco.

Price with install on the TC Kline setup ?? if it was posted here, I must have overlooked it, sorry.

Also, the Breytons, is the hub size like OEM or are hub rings needed to fit?

One last thing, did anyone weigh OEM and TC Klein setup, what was weight savings, if any???

The Breyton GTS-R wheels were speciifcally designed for the 1-series and hub bore is OE, so no rings.

Don't want to change the subject on this thread, but if TC Klein sells the Breytons, I'll probably pick them up with the shock install in one shot, if the price is right.
One other person had posted 10mm spacers in front and none in the rear, I thought that was kind of odd, so you are running 5mm all around?

I have Breyton GTS-R wheels with 245x35x18x8.5 Kumho v700 tires. It is my track setup. I am using the same tire and wheel (+48 offset) combo all around. I have vorshlag camber plates and 10mm spacers just in front. The rears do not need a spacer. The front needs a spacer to prevent rubbing the suspension. A 5mm might work also, but that would be very close to the suspension. And some 5mm spacers don't have enough material to remain hubcentric. On these wheels you could either use a 5mm spacer in the rear or use a staggered setup with 255 in rear. I'm using 4 identical so I can rotate for max tire life. If I roll the front fenders I think I can fit 255's all the way around.

245x35-18s on the 8.5" wide Breytons all around are trouble free. And yes, 5mm spacers in the front to clear the struts, rears are fine as is. Do not try to go with 245x40-18 in the front as they are too tall and will rub fenders and fender/bumper cover bracket.

Mikeo, have you used your breyton setup, with 5mm spacers, at the track? If so, and no rubbing on suspension, I may move up to 255's when I need new track tires. I am running on the stock struts. What are you using?

Have not had the car with stock suspension to an auto-x or track event with the new wheel/tire setup yet. Front 255s may be pushing the strut clearance issue to the limit with 18x8.5 Breytons and 5mm spacer, so it may require a 10mm spacer instead--which would in turn likely need about -3 deg front camber to tuck the tires under the fender lip. It will be close.

My thoughts as well. I currently have 10 mm spacers, so my issue will be fender clearance. I have about -2.5 camber now. Slight fender roll and I may be in the clear. I can't get any more neg camber out of the vorshlag plates.

It'll definitely be tight. Only way to know is try it and see.
