Dyno today, sad faces

Mods in my signature. Air temp was 98 degrees...humidity was 100%...dynojet.

1st pull was 320 whp and 340 lbft in 4th gear

2nd pull was 307 whp and 329 lbft in 3rd gear

3rd pull was 303 whp and 323 lb ft in 4th gear...

I was pretty disappointed to say the least. Am I being a whiner or do weather conditions and/or the person doing the pulls have a big influence on the #'s?

I was expecting about 350 whp and 380 lb ft...

A/F ration was 12 spot on.

On mobile so I can't see your sig, but the temp and humidity are killing your numbers. If you could run the same dyno around 60 degrees and Lowe humidity I wouldn't be surprised to see 20 more whp

Many of us DD our cars. Many wires = 4 connectors I know Cobb makes a flash for N55, but Im assuming they dont for your specific ecu.

Enjoy the Dinan Tune.

hah yeah. idk just seems like those running jb4 are always the ones posting "help me" threads...im not trying to turn it into a drag car, just wondering if the weather i dynoed in had a massive effect on the #'s. i love the dinan tune, but i really wish i could get cobb and have it pro-tuned...

i tried the cobb, plugged it in, called cobb, talked with a rep on the phone while it was plugged in and the DME version was the only one they dont support (yet) although its been over a year since i bought the car and have been waiting for cobb to make me a damn flash.

You are right about where a stage 2 should be. Dinan advertises in brake horsepower not wheel horsepower like all the other tunes. Dinan Stage 2 = 355 brake or 301 wheel hp.

You are not going to get 400whp with a Dinan package.

yes i realize that. more of a temporary thing before cobb comes out for me. but considering my others mods i thought it should account for maybe 30-40 hp

JB4 is a great option for you. Some of the fastest BMW cars run JB4 as well as some of the big custom turbo kits. Seriously look at it, people have run them for hundreds and thousands of miles without issue.

Those are good numbers for a Dinan II! Highest I've seen. Can you post the graph? Are you DCT or manual?

I think your first run is probably most accurate cause you were certainly heat soaked..

Also helps to do a stock run for a before and after on the same dyno. Cause each dyno is different. Dinan's claim is bhp not whp as others have stated.

I personally like steve dinan's product too and excited to see the new compressor wheel that he's supposed to put in our n55..

I may run cobb cause im poor but I have the right year (2011) compatibility wise.

Sorry for the long response but 355bhp x .85 assuming 15% drivetrain loss which is how steve dinan likely calculates is 303whp. So your bolt on are giving you a few more ponies. The Highest I've seen on a dinan II anywhere was 292whp (Suds car) with a performance exhaust.

Unlike most on this board I would prefer dinan over the other tunes cause I use my 135 as a daily driver and the conservative tune is the most reliable. At least in my mind.

Here I go rambling again... Awesome DINAN numbers! Lets get some 1/4 mile times and a stage III dyno in some cooler wheather... maybe upgaded compressor wheel..

Cheers
-Tom

catless dp's have been in for 6 days now, i have had the SES light come on 1 time, i bought a can-tool from bms and clear it when it pops up...havent had one since. it will come back though...i need to update the can tool and then ill just leave it plugged in on auto clear.

if you do catless, this was the only "fix" i found that was cheap and effective for n55's

I think maybe if you get the accessport/pro-tune you will be able to code clear or not need to. But with dinan, what your doing is a viable solution

At the end of the vid, steve says part deux installment will feature stage III with an upgraded compressor wheel matching n54 power...
