Which generation ipods work?

Hi guys, I'm sure I've read somewhere that not all ipods work with the BMW ipod integration. I've got a 4th generation ipod (the first colour screen one, a iPod photo) and I'm getting my 1er next month. I've got the factory iPod integration and I want to be cranking my iPod day one

So has anyone got that same model iPod and has used it in their car? I'm heading overseas in a week or two so if my current iPod won't work I will pick up a new one duty free.

All 4th gen and newer iPods should work. I have a Video and a Classic, and they both work perfectly.

Video is 5th Gen. My iPhone also works.

Any word on 3rd gen? I got one sitting around since the battery lasts about 5 minutes and was hoping I could just leave it in the car.
