Tint or Not
I have a valencia orange 1M, just tinted 35% all around. I have historically tinted all of my cars, but for some reason I'm having regrets about tinting the 1. I'm thinking it might be because the windows on the 1 are pretty large in relation to the size of the car. What's everyone eles opinion?

Pics?
I'm also interested in hearing people's opinion. I actually think VO looks better with tint, and was thinking of doing 35% myself. |

wait, did you tint only the rears? it looks like those front passenger windows aren't tinted, but the picture was a horrible angle for me to tell, honestly.

My 1M is the first car I didn't Tint in my last 4 cars. So far I think it looks better without it. Tint is one of those things that can be added at anytime unlike a Clear Bra that should be added when new.

Tints are a must in the South. Hot weather year-round; blazing UV. You need tints to at least save the interior upholstery.
Just keep the tint light enough so that people can see you. Ghetto blackouts are contrary to the 1M IMO. .

This is my dilemma. I want a tint to protect the interior, protect my left cheek, but I don't like the view from a tinted car. I'm toying with the idea of going with a really light tint with UV protection. The question is how light is too light to not even make it worth it?

Dilemma for me too. I love the look of my 128i with 30% in the front and 15% in the back but I don't like the look of AW as much with dark tints. On the other hand I want to protect the interior. I also have very fair skin. I got a bad sunburn on my left arm and and the left side of my face on a 1.5 hour drive on a really sunny day two summers back before I got the tint.
I was thinking maybe 50% all around but at that light of a tint I don't know if it's worth it. |

I go back and forth on this. I never loved the tinted look, but wanted heat and uv protection. Someone in another thread pointed me to the 3M Crystalline:
http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...omotive_Films/ These go up to 90% (i.e. not visible), but still "reject up to 97% of the sun's heat producing infrared light and block up to 60% of the heat coming through your windows." <rant> The 3M "Find a Dealer" sucks. It only goes up to 50 miles from your zip. So I emailed 3M and asked if they send me a list from nearby states. They told they don't have this information and I would need to look up zips from the neighboring states and keep entering it in the "Find a Dealer" form! </rant> |

It's worth it if you use quality tint. You would be surprised how much heat and UV radiation even 50% can keep out. Hell, I have 50% tint on my windshield with 30% everywhere else. Clear as day! .

I'm in Florida so I know about sun and heat. My other cars are tinted. I like the AW 1M definitely without tint. - Note - Mine is not a DD so it wont be sitting in the sun very often anyway - however - if I do decide to get some film for heat rejection it will most likely be the 3M Crystalline in 90%. I like the clean look.

The rears have the factory " Comfort Glazing " option which is not a stuck on tint, but rather dark tinted glass from the factory as OEM. |

ouch. man, not sure what to do about that, but you can try as hard as possible to match up with what you have from the factory, i guess?

Generally I'm not a fan of tint but it looks not bad in your case. If it wasn't tinted, I would not go and tint it but since you already have it tinted, just leave it. It's not worth the hassle of removing.

I had the same question - I'm typically not a tint "guy" but for my BSM 1M I decided to do it (35% all around), having seen pics in which it looks great. I even second guessed myself and tried to cancel the tint, but the dealer had already finished it. Now I'm very happy I got it. The black against black with the contrast of the wheels is fantastic.
