SO they have one last chance to make it OEM quality, or they will have to figure something out, like buying me a new wheel.

I blame myself. I trust my SA, and he said they do these wheels a lot and that he thinks they look good.
I've tried 3 different wheel repair shops in the tri-state area, was never happy with any of them. End of day buy new OR send it out to Wheel Collision Center (WCC) in Bath, PA. If shipping is too expensive, they have different garages they work with in NJ where they do weekly pickups. But this only works if you have another wheel to use int he meantime or a winter set.

I think 245 square would be ideal, but to get there will require some 8.5" ET45 wheels and more suspension/fender modifications than I want to do at this point - maybe once it's out of warranty.

I don't have a ton of complaints with the Bridgestone RFT - I actually used to track my E90 using a square RFT 255 setup on factory rims. The square set-up really changed the handling and the ride was still fine, but then again, the track (Barber) was in great shape.

Maybe I'll just put the "is" tires on the E88, it'll need replacements pretty soon - it's at 9000 miles, rears are at 4/32". I was debating turning it in to get a Boxster S....but it's in great shape, has low miles, is a blast to drive, and has a reasonable residual. A decent newer and low mile P-car is going for serious coin, so I'll likely end up keeping the 1er.

Decisions, decisions.
I would rather go 225/255 and dial out the understeer with camber. If you don't want to shell out $$$ on plates nor want to deal with the NVH, I would look into Dinan fixed camber plates or M3 control arms. As long as you keep the toe to 0, you shouldn't have any uneven wear even for daily driving. Both should net you 1.25-1.5 degrees individually, which is fine for the street.

Went with 255 in the rear to keep it even like 3002tii said.

Also, I have used WCC in PA before. They did good work. I think I'll be getting a new wheel at the end of this debacle.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the new PSS. When they going on?

I don't know how much the dealer is charging for the wheel repair or attempted refinishing, but the spread between refinishing vs cost new surprisingly isn't that much on our wheels. $125-150 for refinishing perhaps vs $375 new for a front, $400 for a rear. To see this beauty...it's like christmas morning and worth the extra money.

Where does one get the best price on an OEM wheel? And how do you make sure there is no "BMW perf" text on it?

Try one of the forum vendors like Phil @ Reeves or the getbmwparts.com people who I think have some coupon code going on right now.

The part numbers for the IS wheel with NO writing on it are:
Front - 36116856666
Rear - 36116856667

Unfortunately, if you look up the part # on the BMWUSA website, it'll only show you the part # for the one with the stupid BMW Performance writing on it, and no clue why people would get those over ones without writing.

I also know that dealers will rip you off like you have no idea. I nearly crapped my pants in disbelief when I called one dealer who said it'd be like $600+, which seemed odd to me since the BMW site lists the price as $484. Called another dealer thinking that first one must be nuts, and the second dealer quoted me almost $800!! Through one of the forum vendors though, it should be about $375 for the front, $400 for the rear, and I think that may include shipping.

Let me know if you do end up buying a replacement. As sh*tluck would have it, I happen to parallel park on the one block where there was a pothole adjacent to the curb. After our CCA discount, shouldn't be too bad.

But feel free to tell us about stage 3! We haven't heard a peep.

Still patiently waiting. The wait in unbearable... I must say I feel like a kid in the candy store.

Will do. I don't have much confidence in this repair facility. My SA will try to tell me it's perfect, though.

You easily could've driven 50 more donuts if you had some winter runflats equipped. Duh.

well I'm sad to report that the 313s go back on tomorrow. After my snow tire destruction on Thursday I've decided to switch over early as they have to order me a new Nokian tire from Finland. Winter is over anyways.

this winter was amazing fun. more donuts than my appetite could handle....sweet and safe hooliganism. The car looked dark and invisible at night.....going back to the 313 setup tomorrow. I guess the car returns to it's classic 135is appearance

no more donuts I guess I've been a bit hard on the snow tires as well this year....*sigh*

Well, IEDEI, it has been fun living vicariously through your winter adventures. You are going to have a tough time topping that next year....what with all of our increased expectations!
