Yes, the Macan S looks tempting as an SUV to replace my X3 also. Have you driven yet? I have not...I'm afraid I'll act irrationally if I do! You even picked the right color!

No because I know once I drive it there's no going back. My only options would be

White on black
Heated front seats
Panoramic roof
Autodim rear mirror
Park assist with front/rear camera
Standard 19" wheels

i've driven the Macan Turbo......it was nice....but i'd never pay that kind of money for an SUV.

the only SUV i'd ever consider is a 4Runner TRD Pro. It is totally badass. and it comes in only 3 colours.....Orange, Black, and White. Sound familiar???

Dan, a good friend of mine is a CA at Freeport Porsche on Long Island. If you wish, I can give you his contact information. I am sure he will take care of you.

3002 if you are looking at Macan S also consider Audi Q5, same platform. I think with the tow package you should be able to pull the z4 with a trailex bolted trailer.

But also take a look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi or Ecodiesel that might fit the bill for a daily and tow vehicle.

Yea the Q5 the clear practical winner at 15k less but that's with the 2.0T. Tow package or not I don't think any of these can go over 5000lbs. If I wanted a real "truck" I would be looking at x5 diesel with self leveling, q7 or GC diesel as you suggested.

I wouldn't consider the Q5 in comparison, but the SQ5. I sat in the Macan at the LA Auto Show and it actually was my favorite porsche there to sit in. Seemed like the perfect size SUV and the interior was just impeccable and fitting, even though it's the same interior in almost every porsche and there must have been 100 buttons around the gearshift.

But $400 oil changes for the Macan just sounds so painful lol

Wow. The hell they fill it with? Liquid gold? Can you ultimately do that yourself or have a good indy shop do it for a "reasonable" price? I remember nearly passing out I was so sick to my stomach when I saw how much the 15k mile service was on my Audi S5. Literally got nauseous and almost had a panic attack. And that was after my $75 off coupon, which should have been my first indication.

These BMWs have spoiled us rotten with the free service, but is probably a reason many of us like them...and why prices have skyrocketed, too.

Yes, of course! I fully expect to see Mrs. IEDEI driving the "little one" around in her bright orange TRD Pro in the near future. Of course, whenever the weather is really bad in the Winter, IEDEI will insist on taking the 1M all-weather mobile.....

All Porsche dealers we went to treated us like dirt when buying a vehicle from them unlike BMW, Merc, VW, and Jaguar. They have an elitist attitude. IDK where that stems from racism, age-ism, or whatever. Just watch out for that and the maintenance costs that will rip your wallet a new one. Seriously, $2k "brake service" that isn't even needed for another 15k-20k miles and they do this crap every other year.

Since you're in LA perhaps you can relate to this, as I've considered a cayman S, but there is a such a d-bag stigma attached to porsche drivers, at least in this city, it's not surprising that dealers act the same way wish such an elitist attitude.

Yes, I agree. The stigma is not that far off from the BMW driver stigma. P-car drivers and BMW drivers really do live up to that stigma though. It's sad that the cool people among them who truly appreciate cars and/or driving in general are caught in that. Still, I don't see BMW doing crap like that. Heck, BMW dealers would shine my shoes if I ask them to (not being degrading or offensive here).

Still, I want a Boxster Spyder those things are sexy but you pay a lot to play for Porsche.

Well, I'm in complete agreement with you. Then again, I don't get how or why so many people think our cars are so heinous and ugly.

You think whoever "designed" the 2 brags about it or is embarrassed. I assume he ran out of time when he got to the back. ehhhh, i'll just put a giant rectangle...done!

Well I think it's hard for all of us because after you've seen that 2 series active tourer, everything else after that will just look like crap.

Good thing I had my snow tires on the front..... I was however sporting my 9.5 inch wide VMR's on the rear... **grin**

Ha!, that's if you're lucky and you actually end up paying 400$. Porsche "rags" actually cost 35$ EACH, so add that up to your tab too, trust me I know

On the other hand, some of the local Porsche dealers here are offering included service, but likely not on the Macan. I've only seen one across the street so far and they sure are pretty Still can't convince the wife of trading the X3 for one though. Plus maybe they'll soon release a base version and it won't be so freaking expensive!
