No not cheap at all. Right off the bat, it makes me think that a 135i would be a better buy if I was going that route.

Then again, after the warranty's gone, $3995 for +50 HP is attractive, particularly when it doesn't involve a turbo. If only I lived near the tuner.

Upon further investigation, it might be possible to retrofit the DISA from an N52B30O (X3/Z4/X5) 3.0si into an N52B30M (_28i). If you look at the intake, there are two plugs attached to it. They are for the DISA valves. That takes care of the wiring issue. If BMW can issue a new VO for programming, all it might need is a new intake and the DISA valves. I have training in Montvale next week, so I'll ask one of the instructors.
any updates on this?

Some findings on the intake manifold

Hi Guys, would like to share some findings. Here we are driving 125i coupe and 130i hatch with 218hp/270nm and 265hp/315nm respectively.

I was comparing the intakes from realoem.com and found that both are 3stage intake manifolds while the 128i shows single stage. This probably means the difference is only the ECU software.

Have also found the exhaust between the 125i and 130i is the rear muffler. exhaust with flap control and exhaust with non-flap. Not sure if this is a impact or not.

+1 on above.
125i to 130i conversion is in ECU.
ECU crackers do it here, so should anywhere.
actually getting 272 HP out of 125i is no brainer.
Next question is optimized intake-exhaust system.
Right one (with de-cat) should push further 25-30HP at least.

Look for chip tuner to add some 20-30HP at least (I'm amazed that noone offer 272HP chip tuning in US, opposed to Europe where it is almost routine job) and sign in for RissRacing intake-exhaust group buy.
