BMW Performance Day was on 14th April, so its like a weeks ago.
My dealer went there, he said the demo car didnt have the power kit yet.

OMG if thats 2300 bucks that is asinine, and yet at the same time really wouldnt surprise me much.

Thats how car companies roll, oh you want cheap upgrades for big hp? How about we give you really really expensive upgrades for measly 20hp.

Do you believe your BMW 135i has 300hp/300tq? Well, it dosent. Why would you believe this puts out 20hp?

Yep, 2839 us dollars for the kit.
And for those of us who have the performance front on the car. We canīt buy it yet since they have not yet released the "air duct" for the additional water cooler.
Not that iīm at all sure i will buy it.

I'm wondering if it will be cheaper over here. I'm not quite sure if the conversion rates are always accurate. I really appreciate the info Carpimp!

It will probably be cheaper in the states (seems like everything is).
For instance the car itself, in sweden the 135i begins at about 46000 dollars. And in that price we get no sunroof, thats about 1200 dollars more.
Strange, i think i live a bit closer to germany.

I will keep you posted about the air ducts when i hear anything.

Coolness. I'm sure it will still cost a smidge over $2,000 here. The hp upgrade for the MINI Cooper is about $1,800.

Seems right. It will be competing with Dinan in both the power department and warraty department.

I hope that the published power claims were understatements. (And $2000 better include the install price!)

The swedish price is without install, and i would say the install is about 1 - 2 hours, plus programming.
Just a guess from my side on the installtime.

You can probably get half that HP boost by driving in air temps dropped below 32F. Turbo's LOVE cold air.

That extreme and outrageous pricing is not shocking at all for BMW.
Heck, they want $579 for a SSK and + $ to install.
$400 for an iPod connection, more than the most expensive iPods.
$500 for heated seats.
$750!!! for blue tooth phone function. Yeah, BMW "support", you get free roadside assistance standard anyway.

1-2 hours? Install is probably 10 hours or more considering the water cooling, fan + programming.

The front is removed in a matter of minutes, and i donīt think the hosing and the new watercooler would take that long to mount on the car either. But hey, i can be waaaay off about this. But it shouldīnt be so hard to install it.
But the programming is a completley different matter.

Is the performance front that you referred to part of the M-sport package?

It would be very disappointing to know that the sportiest model is getting delayed with the performance kit.
