NE 1Addicts (and friends) 1st Annual Clam Run
All right, here's the deal. aruttled (Andy) and I scoped out the Essex/Ipswich area. Here are the details. Below the details is our story.
When: Sunday May 17, 2009 Where: Starting Point - Cars and Coffee (Woburn) @ 9:00am in the movie theater parking lot Leave @ 11:00 for drive to.... Eating Spot - Woodmens of Essex, then... Drive - Atlantic Rd/Farrington Ave/ Main St/ end at Stage Fort Park Who: 1. Rachel 2. arrutled 3. windmaker 4. LittleVik 5. Impulse 6. RBP67 7. BDH821 8. Dr_Jones 9. Lizak187 (Who wants to drive an M3?! ) 10. BMWeber 11. Holson 12. GGreek5 18. AtoB 19. amybang Andy and I determined that the Clam Box had nice, crunchy clams. Cute girls behind the counter, but the cons were: not enough parking and rude old people. Woodmen's has a large parking area, all you can grab ketchup, and picnic tables overlooking a marsh. So it won. After the drive to the eating establishment, we have a nice drive along an ocean-side road. Afterwards, if you've had enough you can go home, or we can hang out at the park (which includes rolling hills and basketball courts) **Pics courtesy of Andy**

Just for clarification, the cute girls(twins) behind the counter at the clam box werent rude, it was just the old people. Rachel was killing my game though........

Damn this brings back some memories. I drove out to Crane beach in my old car with my friend and his 350z back when we were in college in Boston and we ate at the Clam box. Wish I were up in the area to be able to go!

Crane beach rocks! There is a GREAT diner in the town of Ipswich too. Funny aside:
I was in that diner one morning, before hitting the beach, around 10am last summer. Next to us was a mother and 2 kids at a table. This place is a diner, packed full of breakfast crowd, lots of people coming in and out. So while eating, one of the children, a little boy, maybe 4 or 5 yrs old, drops a piece of pancake on the floor from his plate. Mom looks at him and says... and I shit you not... "5 second rule..." and so the kid picks the piece off the floor and eats it. They continue eating like nothing happened. Myself and the girl I was with are horribly appalled and looking at each other with mouths open. I'll never forget it. |
