Am I Nuts to consider a 2nd VO 1M?

So my current VO 1M has about 55k kms on it and I bought it about 8 months ago. The car is in Vancouver and I still live in Hong Kong atm. A friend recently has another one for sale, VO local car, 1 owner 14k kms in the $50k+ CAD range. This one has NAV, electric seat and stuff which I'm not really fond of.

Problem is I only have a garage parking spot at my in laws and getting another one would mean finding another spot until I buy my own place there (which I've been trying for the past year or so). If the final price is reasonable, I wouldn't mind but would it be nuts to own 2 VO 1Ms that I rarely even drive? I've only driven my 1M twice in the last 8 months with a total of about 1500kms.

There is an option is sell one of them down the road but which one would it be?

Tough one. Help me out guys, am I nuts to even consider another one especially in the same color?

Buy the second low mileage car to store and keep low mileage. Drive and enjoy the higher mileage car.

Tough question. I was extremely lucky when I got mine as it only had 29 miles on the clock (story is here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1038241) and I do drive it when I want. IEDEI has helped me see the light!! that life is too short to not enjoy it, and the memories will be always be worth more than the value of the car ever will! That being said if I could afford 2 of them I would only really want the second to be 'collector' worthy to hold as an investment. (my car would have been perfect for this!) You may never lose money on either...but having a driving car and a second immaculate 'investment' car would be ideal. All of that being said I would prefer the 'collector' car to not hav NAV for the reasons everyone always list; primarily in 10 years it may not function and be an eye-sore.

Good luck either way!

If you want a second car - I would buy it.

Personally if it was me, I would wait a little and buy a different color. So you could have a VO and a white or black one. The m2 is coming so the 1M may go down ( or go up) in value.

Near term, I think prices come down...

Seems inevitable that age, mileage and/or the M2 or GT4 convinces more than a few folks to turn over the keys. Unlikely that it's entirely the finest, lowest-mileage or enthusiast examples that pop up in any number, but I would expect CarMax and Porsche/BMW dealerships to have more inventory over the next year.

I'd get another one in a heartbeat. Maybe get another color and spec'ed out different. That way neither will ever get old and you can enjoy the differences. Each car may even have an individual character.
It's such bliss every time I get it in it start it up. To have two would be double the ecstasy.

I own a 128i coupe with 6MT and my parents have a 128i cabriolet with AT and it is so so so true that you can enjoy the differences between two of the same cars.
If you really love it then get it! Just remember that oil isnt going to be around forever!

You can rent a spot in my building and I can look after it for you.
My friend is selling a BSM with only 9600km.

Why would you want to own 2 of exactly the same car that you admit you rarely drive? Doesn't make much sense unless you think it's a fabulous investment for some reason.

Buy the 2nd one. Two things really kill an important car; rust from winter driving and accidents. Drive and enjoy your cars.

I'd love to buy another 1M. Not a bad idea at all. I would have my wife drive one and I'd drive the other. then 1suv for the family. I'd have to get rid of my 2004 V70R first, but I love that car and can't seem to separate from it!

I have a BSM one and am always perusing the thought of buying a high mileage VO one to have some unrestrained fun with. Therefore, I dont feel that it is a bad idea to have more that one 1M. It is similar to when some people had more than one E30 M3..

That's exactly what I was thinking but for some stupid reason my wife can't agree with me on this. Maybe the fact that she doesn't drive stick or maybe because she has to drive my kid around most of the time. I dunno, still can't put my finger on it as to why she wouldn't love to have the chance of driving matching 1Ms. Who am I kidding, even if I had 10 of them I wouldn't let my wife even sit in the driver's seat
