Non turbo cars don't have carbon buildup.

(Non DI cars, technically, but that means turbo cars in this case).

Has BWM seen failures as a result of carbon buildup? Usually drivability diminishes to the point that someone will have the engine serviced before carbon buildup causes a failure.

Carbon buildup is a pain in the ass, for sure, but there are straight forward maintenance solutions.

love the article. I kept my last car for 5 years, but I think I might keep my 1er around even when I eventually get a larger daily driver.

I plan to keep the mileage as low as possible on my 135is so as to keep the car for a very long time. IMO there is the potential for it to become a classic someday. Just picked up a cheap used Corolla for a commuting econobox. I didn't know there were still cars built without power windows and locks as recently as 2009 lol.
