Enough is enough?
Update:
Car smells super clean and fresh now : ). However, it feels like it was not closed properly. It feels like air is coming inside of my car o_0. Also, my engine sounds MUCH louder. Sounds cool, but is kinda scary for safety reasons Hi D: Rant time! Should i start talking to some upper people from the BMW dealership I go to? My car has been there 4 times now for the same problem. My car has a nasty nasty AC smell, and no matter what, my dealership can't fix it. 1) Sprayed the vents with a cleaning spray similar to lysol. Didn't fix the problem. 2) Completely cleaned out the AC system. They said there were a few rocks that blocked the rain gutting system. Still didn't fix the problem I was then told that A/C is not covered by BMW warranty, and that they would have to check with BMW regional on what to do next, and make sure it is done under goodwill. 3) BMW Regional said to clean the A/C system using an ionization technique. It took about 2 hours, and my advisor and I went back to my car, turned it on, smell was still there. 4) I was told they have to get back into contact with BMW regional, and see what the next step is. Problem is, it has been a week now since #4. The issue of the smell has been over 2 months. My SA has been very kind, but the important thing, the problem, is still not fixed!! Maybe I should ask to switch cars with them, so they know what its like to feel intoxicated every time I drive. Who knows what I am inhaling, and it sometimes makes me feel dizzy. sigh I feel like they might not be taking me seriously because I am 20 years old. Also, my car has had a plethora of problems that were fixed under warranty. Right now I have been only talking to my SA, but maybe I should talk to the manager?

That sucks...here's an idea. Buy one of those petri dishes at Home Depot for air quality analysis. Stick it in the car for 24 hrs and send it to the specified lab for results. That way if there is anything toxic you'll have the data available as proof.

Go straight to the dealer manager. The top dogs have much more say on the matter and will help you out much faster.
I had a problem with my radio 4-5 times in the shop and they didn't take me seriously because I was 20... I went straight to the dealer manager and told him that I didn't appreciate the service I was receiving and let him know how I felt. Don't be intimidated, but still keep a forceful front. There is no reason they should be treating you poorly or less equal because your 20. By all means your an adult. You might also be able to get some kind of compensation for your time as well... (BMW Part at cost or less with free install) depending on your negotiating skills. Good luck!

A/C can be very tricky to fix. Glad they found out what the problem was.

Yeah I was wondering about that myself. Seems like a blatant lie.

Maybe he meant somehting like a freon charge wasnt covered under warranty, but everything else should be.
Especially if it was an oil leak. |

Bad evaporators are an issue. I've had mine replaced twice.
When you said bad smell, was going to ask you if it was a chemical smell or dead rat smell. Chemical means have them check the evaporator. |

Update: Smell is gone!! smells great!!
1 small problem... it sounds like the dash was not put back together properly. The engine sounds like its in the freaking car. Like its no longer muffled. I can hear the engine through my dashboard o_0. Anyway I can see to make it was closed correctly?

is there a way I can see if it is put together or not properly?
I will do a small video tape tomorrow. I can even hear the intake whooshing which I never heard before. They are going to think I went psycho.

There is no way you will be able to see anything. The tech will most likely need to take apart the lower half the passenger side dashboard to get acess again to the EVAP box. Perhaps the old insulation was moldy and thats why they left it out. Just a guess though. It could be a foam insulation like this: #4 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...52&hg=51&fg=55 Good Luck, Dackel |

As fellow 1ers have already said before, go straight to the top dog at the shop and get this finally fixed. I would also place a little comment about your service at www.yelp.com. I did it for some horrible service at a Chrysler dealership and the service manager called me a couple days later asking what he could do for me.
