Numbers please-genuine precise data
With the emphasis on "mods" by so many who post here I'm curious if any of you have solid data on the effects of your "mods."
For example, if you've done engine mods have you put it on a dyno to see the pre versus post mods numbers? Do you have accurate pre and post acceleration times? Lap times with suspension or tire mods? I'm sure that if I'd spent a bunch of money on performance mods it'd be easy to convince myself that , Wow! It sure "feels" faster. That's the sort of subjective impression of performance I don't want or trust. I know I'd be damned disappointed if after spending a bunch I found that I'd cut something like 0.1 seconds from my 0-60 time for example. Genuine data please. |

I don't think a single person on here owes you one iota of data or justification.

Who does to OP think he is? Parent? Teacher? Judge? That entire post reads like a father telling his child to justify what he spends his money on. Mate, if you want to know what mods give what gains then you've got 3 choices: 1. Do them yourself and do your own analysis. 2. Use the frakking SEARCH 3. ASK! Politely. Don't demand answers. Everyone here shares their own experiences at their own discretion. Show a bit of appreciation for the community. |

Right. That explains a lot.
OP: GTFO. You are obviously not here for the same reasons as everyone else... Everyone remember this lovely thread? http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=625153 |

The good news is that the OP has a 128i convertible, so his fear will likely be correct. Spend a lot, get very little. If you were focused on performance and tuning potential, you might have bought the wrong car.

OK, you guys win. I didn't realize it was an unreasonable question to want to know if the hundreds or thousands of dollars spent on "mods" produced results that were worth the expenditure. I'm outta here.

Just to clarify, and keeping in mind what Dack had to say, my problem wasn't with what you wanted to know. It was the "tone" of your post.
This place is all about sharing information. But it's also about respect. Perhaps I was a bit harsh but it rubs me the wrong way when someone asks for help and starts off by criticising others' choices... Maybe that's not the way you meant it but I know I'm not the only one who read it that way... |

Most of my mod money went into the chassis, and I have no idea how many tenths the mods shaved off of lap times because I don't track my car at this point in ownership. It only matters that my car now feels how I wanted it to feel. I couldn't care less if there is "genuine data" to back that up or not. What about cosmetic mods? I think you knew from the onset that there is precious little "genuine data" to support those. |

Guys I've been lurking here getting a feel of this site and I'm floored by this thread
I don't know the history on the OP, seems he/she has not been here a long time I've read the OP over a couple times and the 'tone' is a simple reality check for dollars spent vs mod's. Perhaps a follow up question to clarify a inquiring fellow 1er but 1st response is to 'go search', 2nd one is 'I don't think a single person on here owes you one iota of data or justification.' followed with 'Who does to OP think he is? ' and the uber welcoming 'GTFO' and if that was not enough basically call his/her car a POS. Wow, what a welcoming place |

Wow - the OP was THAT guy! At first I thought some of the initial responses here were a little unforgiving. But now that I know he was the "secret decoder ring" guy, I say good riddance.
