Best Downpipes
What's the best sounding/best performance Downpipes available for the n55? Also what's the best tune to use to take care of the CEL light?

Do you want catted or catless? As far as clearing the CEL, JB4 has a setting that auto clears codes. I run JB4 but leave the CEL on because if another issue arises, I want to know about it. I wouldn't invest too much money into a downpipe, as it's just a tube that connects from your turbo to the midpipe. I'd go with VSRF or AFE.

I read that a 4" dp could be too large for the N55, reducing torque at the expense of some added high rev HP. I went with high flow cat because I did not want to create a gross polluter. Even though I have stock exhaust, I enjoy the new throaty sound, and my butt dyno is amazed. |

All catless DP with throw a code.
A jb4 will hide that code for you. Get a VRSF or AA DP, never had any complaints about it.

The way I understood it, tune doesnt matter. The tune puts the sensors into a not ready status and they just dont read or throw codes. However, this doesn't solve the issue of passing obd-II inspection scans. In NC we have yearly inspections and I have no access to a lift to be able to wrench then on and off 4-6 times over the span that I own the car. And its crazy to pay $300+ to keep swapping them for inspections.
