JB3 to JB4
Hey guys. Bought a 135i about a month ago. Ordered a jb4 and dci from burger motorsports. Received it today and was really looking forward to the install! Popped the hood and started looking around and noticed a USB coming from ecu...hmmmmmm. Got in there and realized it already had a jb3...damn....pretty sure anyways looks different then the one i just received. Now I'm curious how to go about this. Should i remove the jb3 and just install the jb4? Im having SES light come on and car goes into limp mode once I'm at WOT on map 1 and 5. Runs fine on stock map. Gonna try to get that figured out first. Guessing its a misfire. Appreciate any advice you guys can offer

Actually found out it has an older model of the jb4. I'll probably install the new one I just received and sell the other one lol. Tomorrow I am going to call the dealer I bought car from and see if they will replace plugs under their 30 day warranty

Oops! lol, yeah, I didn't read. I thought it was another one of those "is it really worth it to get a JB4 if I already have a JB3" threads. I've been a JB user since the JB3 days and the latest JB4 G5 hardware combined with the free backend flash is really superb. To the OP, you can read/clear codes from the JB4 interface, but I highly recommend getting a BT cable too which will allow further diagnostics and the ability to load the backend flashes. See stickies in Terry's forum for lots more info.
