BMW Quad Exhaust - Custom. BRISBANE

I noticed a thread about quads not all too long ago. So don't rage at me for starting a new one.

I am interested in getting an exhaust built for my car, as a good mate is a boilermaker, and is currently working at a large truck exhaust/ mechanical shop and has all the tools and parts necessary to build a nice set of pipes.

We've been looking at a few of the quad's around and he thinks it might be tough to get a similar muffler as used on most designs.

BUT what this post is really about, IS. I was wondering if anyone in the Brisbane area would be kind enough to let us have a squiz at their quad to see how it's all done and try to 'replicate' it.

AND If we are able to do this and get a good result, he may be able to pump a few out for a reasonable price.

Thanks in advance,
Kurtis.

I don't have a suitable donor car but I'm keen to see how you go Kurtis. Are you planning a full stainless steel axle back section with two separate mufflers or just the single muffler with a dummy pipe feeding the rear driver's side section?

Keep us posted

The only quad I know of in Brisbane (other than 1Ms) is Vinney - @BMW86 ...

I do a muffler or resonators on the mid pipes then just straight pipes out to either side out the back.
Probably the easiest and should sound good.

I was thinking full stainless, but maybe I'll get a couple done to see how they sound/look. I've seen a few 135's getting around with quads. Guess they aren't members though.

I'll probably just get the axle back first then do the rest. I'll get my mate to have a look at some prices for pipe and mufflers and I'll put some rough prices up here.

If we can't find a donor we'll just have to knock something up and go from there

Thanks for the input though guys.

Here's my quad pipe setup with a custom axle-back straight pipe. Not the best pic I'm afraid.

That looks pretty simple Unkie, unlike the one the one above, the muffler seems to be the most difficult part.

Cheers guys. I'll probably get something going next week as my friend is away for 4 days.

Any updates on this quad Kurtis?

I've just found a couple of photos I saved from another Brisbane member's custom quad setup (sorry I can't recall their forum name). I hope the member doesn't mind me sharing these images. This looks like a great setup to model off! I really like how it is centre aligned like an E46 M3 and the rear diffuser ties in nicely. It looks to be a magnaflow muffler with the rest welded on.

Hey guys, I've just moved so all of my time and unfortunately money has gone into that. I want to try to get back on track as soon as possible, but that still probably wont be until at least mid Jan due to holidays and such.

Thanks For the photos Justin. That is a pretty neat setup

No worries. Where are you based Cakezilla?

I've dug up a little more info on the above quad setup (I actually spoke to the owner but had completely forgotten about it!).
This was his thread:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=725191

The forum user for the above quad is 'KB135' but I understand his car was written off. He had his exhaust fabricated by Rob Bliss Exhausts at Geebung, QLD. I understand the setup is a Hartge replica diffuser with a full stainless axle back exhaust running a Magnaflow muffler (part no. 14378) and four 76cm round tips. Given Rob Bliss have built one of these before they may be able to fabricate a few more. I know I'll be calling them when I finally get a 135i!
