Eletrical Issue - 2011 135i E82 DCT
Hi,
This morning while reversing my car it would abruptly go into park. Then I would try and go into drive and it would do the same. So I left it in park to idle and the dash would flicker engine would be on but the rpm would drop to 0. Anyone ever experiences this I didn't get a chance to thoroughly look to see if the was any CEL I was running late to work. Also another note to add the other day while driving on the highway I noticed that the media center screen would flicker on and off and the music would cut in and out really quickly but then it went away after I turned off the radio and turned it back on. Any help is very appreciated thank you for your time. The care is a 2011 135i DCT with 77k miles on it. |

Is your truck wet? Maybe you might have fried some of the hardware under the truck mat. Also, this happened to my MS3, a squirrel or something got into the engine bay, ate the wiring to the MAF. Might want to check under the hood as well.

No problem. I haven't encountered this issue nor seen anything like this mentioned in the forum since I became a member. I do know that water in the truck fries those modules and it can cause havoc. My own experience with the MS3 was rough idle, stalling, lights on the dashboard, ect.

It had warranty but Mazda didn't cover animal damage inside the engine bay. It was roughly $1400. Could have been a new engine harness ($3grand +) if the animal chewed any closer to the MAF.

Probably a fail safe when the car detects low voltage from the battery. Puts the car in park rather than neutral, ect.
I would recommend either testing your battery/alternator yourself or take it to an auto shop to get a reading. It would be good to rule out. |
