M3 DCT Paddle Swap - Active Steering Warning!

I just swapped my Steptronic paddles to M3 DCT Paddles. I disconnected the battery during the process. Upon starting up the car, I got...

"Active steering inactive. A change in steering behavior or steering wheel offset is possible. Continued driving is possible."

Paddles function fine Power Steering does not

Any suggestions? Anyone experience this when doing this swap or a full M3 steering wheel swap?

NM. I drove the car around for a while and it eventually went off after some full steering rotations in both directions. But at least now we have this documented so if this happens to you, just drive until the warning goes away.

But anyways... These feel much better than stock paddles. Aluminum and click feel is nice. It makes having both hands on the wheel necessary while driving in 'manual'. I only paid $90 for mine, so I'm stoked on this mod. Don't go spending $350+. I've seen some other people who have done this swap complain about fit and spacing. Unless you live your life "a millimeter at a time", you'll never notice either of those things.

(steptronic paddles are on the wrong sides in the photo. their awful design is to blame)

My car also got new injectors (#1 failed), spark plugs and a walnut blasting today... so a spirited driving weekend is ahead.

I think the year is key here. What year is your car, and did you fix said problem?
