"Reaching the side of the vehicle, I nearly dropped my Starbucks latte in disgust."
Oh-oh, the 135i has lost the latte drinkers of America. Was this supposed to be the core target market??

i guessing the guy that wrote this was pissed because his local bmw dealership ran out of allocations, so he cant order one, so the only way to make him feel better is to bash it..

wow. obviously has much different priorities than myself. it bothers me somewhat when reviews focus on a comparison of the car to what they like versus how well a car does what it is intended to do for the price it is.
i think the 1 series vs AWD racers (r32, sti, evo) debate is settled though. you can get better lap times with a super intelligent AWD system just mashing the throttle all the way around. or you can enjoy one of the last practical automotive manufacturer's offerings that can come with a true manual and driver focus (and RWD). both have their rewards. |

Any idea why this guy thinks that Navi/iDrive is standard on the 335i - or why he only tests automatics? Tom |

I LOVED this little bit:
"The 335i coupe is more attractive, more enjoyable to drive, holds its value better and offers far more real road usability than the 135i." How the hell can he testify to that at this point, the car hasn't been out long enough to know what the residual value will be!

What do you guys think about the 135 not holding its value as well as a 335? I seem to see a lot of 335's out and I have the only 135 i have seen, which makes me think if someone was looking for a used 135 they will have to look harder driving the price higher.

AFAIK, there have been only a handful of critical reviews of the 1er coupe. The most significant of those was Dan Neil's, of the LA Times. His was significant because Dan's bona fides are greater than the The Truth About Cars'. As far as TTAC. I have read the articles and they're both a meh, 'couldn't care less', to me. I know why I'm buying the car, why it makes sense to me, and what value it represents to me (and I'm also aware of what baggage the roundel carries with some respected car fanatics - if you think F-body fanboix are bad, the BMW fanboix put them to shame ; -). So what about TTAC,? It's great to hear a dissenting voice once in awhile - gets youse guys worked up into a lather and makes them feel swell. ('Their job here is done'). Consider the source and then move on. And with that - I'm closing this out since it duplicates previously posted material. |
