COBB 135i vs. E9x m3

How would an N54 135i equipped with a Cobb AP and injen intakes do against an e9x m3? Thanks !

I think it should be a damn close match. of course depending if we are talking about a drag race or a road course but a 135 with cobb and suspension mods should be hard to beat around the track. been thinking about a tune myself. considering cobb, giac or ess. tough decision

On the highway is what im assuming you're talking about id say very close with edge to the m3. I was a bit quicker than an exhaust m3 on jb3 map 5. Cobb st 1 is def slower than jb3 map 5.

If you're talking circlle track without susp mode the 135 even tuned will be well behind the m3

Makkasteez,

I don't know how Cobb AP compares with jb3 (map 7) but I was level with a stock M5 (e60) from a 40-140 mph roll when traffic forced me to slow.

I would expect to beat a stock E92 M3 quite easily, so you should do pretty well too IMHO.

Mad.

I have "raced" two e9x M3's and had no problem with them. Our cars are equal to them I would say. The first one was an e92 M3 and the second one was a e93 M3. I also raced a e46 M3 and I have no problem walking him. And also one guy in a Weissman (e46 M3 powered) coupe - walked him too no problem. When I say "raced" I mean 80 kph to 250 kph on the Autobahns.

Now... I am sure all the M3 guys will come out of "lurke mode" and start to flame me for what I have stated above. But the above "stories" did happen. Btw... my car is bone stock for now.

Jb3 Map 7 is a little stronger then a Cobb Stage 1.

But the majority should have no problems.

Wait for stage 2, or run a little race gas to ensure optimum ignition.

....So you walked on a car that has a 120hp more than you, and a better power curve...hmm that just does not sound right.

If that's the case.... Power to weight advantage is a great thing.

You can have a 1200000000 hp cargo train, I'll outrun it on my minibike.

Just for clarification I believe Dack was talking about walking the E46 M3...rated at 333hp. Guy I know has a 05 E46m3 (both our cars are stock/no tune) and we were heading down the road together and I was able to pull on him. This is probably due to the quick torque our cars put out whereas the M3 needs get a little higher RPM's to hit the sweet spot. Tuned by Cobb or what ever if the E9x is stock the 1er can get a good jump on it, seen this once or twice.

Yes. I was able to WALK an e46 M3. No problem at all.

As for racing an e92 M3(v8)... we are dead even until 250kph. It pretty much depends on who gets on the gas pedal first as to who is in front. a stock 135i is dead even with a e92 - in my two informal "tests".

And... btw... when I raced that e93 M3 vert... we were both driving from Nurburgring all the way to Bayern A3 autobahn to the A9. And... the guy in the M3 had to stop for a pit-stop for gas at Wuerzburg! At 279 kms. I was able to continue on until 379 kms for gas. lol

That has been my experience

I haven't been to track with the 1 but my previous m3s would trap 105ish heavy vert to 107s in coupe stock. Right on par or Just a little bit quicker than the 1. There are however lots of m3 that are beat up and tired.

I beat one by 2 lengths from 30-100 and again from 50-115 or so in my z4m. Same motor but prob 250 lbs lighter. Even with that weight advantage either I've got a ringer or his is beat.

I had no problem beating an E9x M3. I'm running procede. So I would assume it would be a very close race.
