Well the trunk we know is fatsuit and the rear bumper might be photoshopped.
But the hood/headlight configuration is suspect....something's there that isn't seen and it's not the taped over emblem and lights. I think the hood is fake- fatsuit. Might be wrong- but the overlaps are out of whack.

These are the guys that should be fixing the tiles on the space shuttle.

Great pics 'Freak. Thanks.

The driver is Hans-Joachim Stuck...raced F1 in the 70's, won LeMans and Spa twice in Porsche's.
Suffered injuries to his legs and semi-retired...part of his decision was based on the fact that he is very tall, cars had to be modified to fit him.
But where's his co-driver?

However, good news for those of us who wondered about headroom in the 1-er!

BMW’s 1 Series Coupe Testing with Hans Joachim Stuck

Legendary German Race Car Champion Testing at Nürburgring

Only six weeks after a very serious crash and just two days after the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring where he also went off the track, the legendary German race car champion Hans-Joachim Stuck took another BMW around the Nürburgring, again. However, this time it wasn’t his normal Z4 Coupe race car, but the brand new and not yet official BMW 1-series Coupe.

BMW had asked their 56 year old race driver to do some laps around the ring while shooting a video for advertising. Equipped with cameras, the new 1-series Coupe did some quick rounds, and when Stuck got out of the car he had a big smile on his face. The pictured prototype is a 135i plus M sport package. It can be recognized from the rear view shot by its double exhaust pipe.

And while Stuck was doing some interviews, BMW staff rushed to make the prototype disappear again very rapidly, because too many fans had spotted the big star and were trying their best to take pictures, both of him and the secret car.

In one of those pictures I see a key ...

Also, I noticed a moonroof, unusual for a track car...

We need to get his driving impressions, i'd love to know what he said.

Well, I guess questions about the 135 issue is forever settled.

Is this not the coolest pre-launch campaign ever?

Have we been played or what?- I've come to expect new pics of the car
waiting for me every morning...not fuzzy pixilated images- but sharp
print quality.

The only way they top these photos is with the real thing.

Upon press release I'm hoping is that BMW starts it's own design-your-own 1-er web-site...certainly 1addicts could provide links and dedicated threads.

That's a beautiful color on that car.

And Brook is right, that gap between the head lamp assembly and the hood+fender is HUGE. Something's not final.

Isn't the gap quite big on the current 1-series too?

I knew I wasn't the only person seeing the gap...btw....samo with trunk lid where it meets the rear window...relatively large gap caused by the fatsuit sitting atop the real trunk. Yes there's a gap on the production hatch's hood but there's a bump where hood meets fenders above the headlight on the coupe 1-er. If you don't see it...don't worry..maybe it's just me and Spin.

Natch there's other things they could be testing and probably were but I think this is showtime teaming the grand old guy and the 1-er for the cameras.
Definitely cool idea.

You never noticed it before because you've never seen it with tape on the lights. Maybe it has an unusual gap because otherwise the bonnet would land on the lights... However it adds a shadow to it which I find quite nice. It won't bother you when the tape is removed I'm sure.

Hello there. First time contributor. I think I have the solution.
It's on the E90 in NA.

Can't wait to see it IRL

It would be interesting to know the size of the wheels that this test car was running. They look like 18s but probably are 17s. The reason I ask is that those brakes look very tightly assembled in those wheels and I would bet that you couldnt get a smaller wheel in there. Which also means that when the 135i does come, you will probably get 17s as standard (as opposed to the 328's rather poor standard 16s)
