Saw a black 325 with dealer plates last night, and it was naked. Pointed it out to my wife and told her I was going to do the same thing. She couldn't even tell what was missing. Then I pointed to the chrome tips, told her those were on their way. Again, a blank look.
She's embarrassed enough by having the car, that she wants to drive my truck to go clean one particular house this weekend. doesn't want to embarrass the home owner whose 5 is 2 years old

Haha im the same way- sometimes im shy to take my car to do something simple. I start up summer school monday and im worried about parking it in the school lot. Some punk may be having a bad day and decide to key it..

This is a great post ... I thought I was the only one feeling wierd driving BMW at 21...( graduated college last year...first car...also paying for myself...havn't seen parents in 4 years).

I sometimes just walk to places I would normally drive to just so people dont see me in a bimmer...because when people see my car and my age,all sorts of assumptions are made (unfortunately most are bad - just like the ones dave made earlier... )

I noticed a huge cultural difference between here (US) and my hometown (Egypt)....it is acutally a big shock for me (came to US college 4 years ago)...so I am still learning alot ! Especially from this forum..

sorry to take this off topic...

BMW's are really no huge status item, scan any parking lot near me and there's damn near as many 3 series as accords or camrys.

Thats true- but for example, when i was in the market to buy my bmw. My older brother kept telling me if you want a new car, buy a new celica, accord, tacoma..etc.. Hes like no, you want a bmw cause you want to be part of that "group". Anyway- he kept saying it was a status symbol. He even thought bmw dealerships offer their clients cocktails (haha lame ass)... Anyway, i think the reason
the Dave 330 guy got so riled up on me was cause im sure he didnt want someone 15-20 yrs his younger driving the same kind of high class car that he has probably wanted for years and was only now is able to afford it in his 30-40-50s. So thats how i feel when i drive around town to run simple errands.. that either #1- people think im a snotty rich bitch, #2- daddy's girl, #3-stripper.. haha...

yeah, that's a good point

I don't see why anyone gets all butt hurt about debadging, I have a 325 and I like it. For 90% of your driving the 330 is no better, I actually got the bug for a 325 when I drove my mom's E46 (I had a 95 M3 at the time, much faster than any 330) and even the old 325 is adequate for daily driving, our E90's are pretty darn quick.

people buy BMW's for 2 main reasons, one is the status symbol factor, the other is that BMW makes cars so much better than everyone else (maybe not porsche).

I'll bet 90% of the folks that de-badge their car are 325 owners...

They claim that they want a "cleaner look." And Don Carleone claimed that he was in the Olive oil business

I debadged my E36 328iS, my E46 330Ci, and I just took the badge off my E90 325i. Always thought it looked a bit cleaner, especially on a black car.

My favorite, debadged m cars!

Anyone with a 330 that de-badged want to sell them to me so I can put the on my 325?? JUST KIDDING. I have a 325 because I wanted it, not because I cant affort a 330, to ME it was just not worth the extra money for something I wasnt going to use. I was happy with what I got from the 325. you know what they say, opinions are like assholes....everyones got one...

The best is when you see a BMW that's had body work done, and they put the emblem back on the left side of the decklid.

Both the e91 and e61 are shown in official BMW photos sans badges. So debadge away... you have BMW's tacit approval.

I actually think it looks pretty good. I may consider the badge-delete option when it comes time for a new 325iT.
