What are you guys buying this car for? There are better car to haul your grocery.
The E46 tires were/are only 10mms narrower. I am really digging the M1 and was just thinking the same thing about it being a contempoaray resurrection of the E46. The M1 will have a LOT more torque though.

Why do people KEEP saying they'd rather slap on every available performance part on their 135i. I get that makes you feel better about yourself, but come on!
What is it about the monumental difference that a wider track, lsd, vastly superior suspension components and vastly superior brakes has on a car that people don't understand?!
You'd have to dish out HUGE amounts of cash to get the handling of the 135i anywhere close to the 1M!
You can do that , make your 135i a hybrid of performance accessories but you will never have an M car. In a similar pattern to the M3 CSL. BMW will not sell any parts for the 1M without a vehicle identity number.

People keep complaining about the rear end. I don't think it's bad at all and will likely look much better in real life. I prefer it to the M3's rear bumper.

This car will be a great performer. A recent review of the 335iS yielded some great numbers and dynamics; the M1 will be every thing the 335iS is and much more.

I don t get goosepimples from some pictures.

When i drive it and it has no lag and a fantastic throttle response and i can steer the rear end perfect with throttle. Then i enjoy the car. Goosepimples i had when i bought my 997 GT3 Mk2 clubsport and put on my first drift with 8500 on the rev counter. The other car that has given me goosepimples was my M3 CSL.

I have had evo s sti and turbo s have never given me goosepimples neither will this one do.

But the 1 series M is for me a nice sporty daily driver which i can throw sideways when i go to the grocery store.

Scott, wonderful design, dimensions and chassis. Would it have been possible to give it more power though?

Ok, I haven't driven it, but I'm wanting the output to be differentiated from the Z. The 1M requires its own power domain. This car, this design truly demands the capability of running very fast.

^1. Anyone else see a resemblance in the black PS above with the rear of an E60 M5?

I have to say... The rear bumper, with those flared areas above the exhaust pipes, is overdone. I wish the bumper could be less freaky.

Maybe there will be some nicer aftermarket bumpers.

With a $46,000 price tag, that means it will likely be coming to Canada with a $58,000 price tag (based on how other cars are priced) and that is a $15,000 premium for 29hp, an LSD and 70lbs of weight reduction.

I just don't get it... this could have been great, but trying to keep it down below the M3 has turned it into a bit of a dud. Unless it does magical things on the track when C&D or R&T gets their hands on it for testing, I am out.
BINGO. Such a sad, anticlimactic reveal. Anyone that thinks this is a true M is kidding themselves.

What is the mention of "Brake energy regeneration" on the Specs sheet all about? Did BMW actually integrate this technology into the 1M?

Is it just me or does anyone else thing that the front end and rear look a bit too much - too bold and heavy looking - basically the bottom half of the car - it needs something on the bonnet to balance it.

This is the most pointless argument ever. The 135 is faster straight line than the 335, so why not the same for the 1M and M3?

What's with the black (non chrome vertical grill)? Looks like it's off a 118i!

91 RON fuel minimum is pretty impressive though!
