I was seriously considering wet sanding the things down, but I don't have a paint thickness meter, so I lived with it. It will be time well spent correcting that paint.
God damn it, seriously?

In my case, it all appears to be surface, but only when you are actually polishing will you know just how deep they are.

Yeah, seriously. The windshield had a lot of pitting from the water spots, too. In my garage, I have pretty powerful overhead LED light fixtures. it shows every defect on the upper surface of the car. Great for correcting paint-bad for staring at your car after driving it!

Must be that time of year... The Wife's x1 is going in today for a full interior/exterior detail. Poor thing is in desperate need too- between drive through washes, the sandy driveway parking spot and the hundred pound German Shepweiler getting hair -everyfreakingwhere- it's just more of a job than my tired ol' back wants to handle.

Next month I'll probably have the same folks do a full on paint correction on the 1er. That oughta be fun. For sure there's some wet sanding to be done on the trunk- I'm not sure what happened but there's an area roughly 6 inches square where the paint is just trashed, enough that I think it may need a repaint. We'll see....

Changed the oil and filter. 85,770 mi.
Castrol Edge 0w-40 European formula, and genuine filter.
Had only been 5,000 miles and the old stuff came out deep golden. Confirmed for myself that I can stick with 7500 mile change intervals.

Winter is back in SoCal... finally! Going to see some nights in the 30s this week. Yes!! Turbos love cold, dense air. Time for some midnight drives. Tired of 80+ degrees in the winter. Save that for spring and summer. On the other hand, I don't envy the folks who have to put up with freezing weather through most of winter.

Must be nice....
We may be done for the year. Fingers crossed for the traditional, last of the season, mid-march freeze. Usually get one last rainy cold blast sometime during the week of the Sebring 12 hour...

Post up some pics when they're all done so we can ogle at the freshly detailed BMWs.

Polished the Nav screen and added an anti-glare screen protector.

What did I do yesterday?

Picked up this, having ordered early last month: CL BMW hobbyist in the PNW, has them made in or near der Vaterland-it's a gem

He delivered twelve this weekend - I saw them all...

A 1M for comparo-not perforated you'll observe

Thumb rests on these are noticeably more aggressive; wide muscled digit will have a tight fitment

Beyond skinny digit, I'm tall-the flat bottom was ideal. Bonus, it matched the instrumentation, Nice detail

Fitting it this week. I have Realoem.com alcantara trim so losing the M badged trim. (PM me as it's available)

He incidentally can create 'what ever' spec. Mine is street DD so no 12 o'clock stripe. He can do anything he said, while donor wheel(s) from EU - you keep yours...$mid+threes

Significant upgrade to early 128i wheel which (really folks, it's plastic sorry to report) among the weakest item(s) in our mono-plastic-slathered cabin.

Will report after some breakin' in miles.

If no scratches, put it on right over the screen. Make sure it is very clean. No need to remove the screen to do this. (Though it would likely be easier.)

Welcome! You should post up some pics of how she looks now, and after the new bumper, diffuser, and other upgrades.

Got some intake VANOS solenoid code and a rough idle, no SES.

Cleaned the solenoids and check valves. Seems fine now.

Ordered some gaskets (ofhg, IM) and coils to get things buttoned up and hopefully off of jackstands by mid March.
