Took a fall tonight. My cat finally got her way after 2 years of trying to trip me. Banged up my right knee pretty bad. Went to ER for x-rays and no broken bones. The whole leg is killing me and they gave me some serious pain medication. Won't be driving my baby for at least a week now, if not more. I'm sure the knee/leg will look worse tomorrow...
That darn cat!

Ahhhhhh.......
Well then..... As the driver of the 6sp AT myself, allow me to amend my statement to: Glad you didn't hurt the support leg that allows higher G maneuvers than those trying to deal with a clutch....

I was raised in apartments in LA and have always had AND love cats. We got this particular cat from a shelter after our cat of 14 years died from lymphoma.
The second day we had her she sent my daughter to urgent care from an infected bite. She bit me the day after, but it wasn't bad and didn't swell and get infected like my daughter's did. This cat loves to bite and walk in front of you (crossing your path), especially when it's dark in the house and you don't expect it. I must say, I love her because she's family now and I don't believe in returning pets to the shelter because I might be saving her life, but when people say they don't understand cats, this is just the kind of cat they're talking about. And this is coming from a guy who has had cats all his life. HELP! She's out to get me!! Haha PS - I miss my car already...

Just got it back from the collision center...oh man, I have missed the engine, and I have missed the shifter, and I have missed the handling (I could go on). It looks really good, but the sun was quickly setting when I actually got it, so I'll have to report back tomorrow. I'm not allowed to wax it for 60 days (fresh paint and clear coat), so I'm kinda worried about that, but it'll all be good! Tomorrow afternoon, I'm going to put my summer wheels and tires back on the car (see if I can get the 10mm spacers in the rear without rub, because I have lots more camber now) and enjoy looking at it more; and then, this weekend I can do my OFHG and oil cooler retrofit, etc. Busy busy busy...

Did my first oil change this week. I've been under wtty until this one. The work was uneventful, BUT, the car ran like shite afterwards. Lumpy idling, racing up to 2000 rpm then settling down, etc. I think I found the problem was the oil fill cap wasn't tightly sealed. Not loose enough to let any oil out, but, loose enough to let air in. Anyway, it's running fine now.
Edit: It threw about 10 codes related to misfiring I cleared them and no reappearance.

You'd love my paint. Looks and feels better than when I first bought it, save for a few front end rock chips. No swirls, no scratches. Smooth, like glass. Always kept in the garage. Had it at my indy shop a couple of weeks ago and they said it was the nicest 1 series they've seen. Yes, I'm a little proud of her if I do say so myself...

Got a PPI and I think I'll go forward
There's a leak with the turbo feed line But I got the Route66 warranty from PenFed and looking around they've covered this kind of repair before, so I'll just baby it for a week or two and "happen to find an issue" . 2012 135i DCT, M-Sport, Comfort Access and iDrive Water pump and thermostat done at 50k miles Oil Pan, Transmission Fluid, Control Arm Bushings, Spark Plugs and Coils done between 70 and 80k |

Coolant or Oil lines?
I Hope the cover that for you! It looks fairly involved for the average shadetree DIY mechanic. Web stories of ridiculous gouging by shops. My PPI found nothing. As soon as I drove the car off the lot, a brake sensor died. $100 - no biggie. First oil change, same guy who did PPI says "did you know your oil pan gasket is leaking? Um - no. You didn't mention it in the PPI! Anyway, that was 2.5 years ago and I still haven't had it fixed. Got a quote under $900 a couple months ago - from someone else - so will probably do it soon. But it never runs down more than 1/2 qt before it's time for an oil change.

Oil lines, it sounds like it was just based on visual inspection since it was a pretty quick inspection
The Route 66 warranty is extremely well discussed on different BMW enthusiast sites, so you can easily find stories of what they will cover, what they'll give a hard time about (someone got their warranty canceled for bolt ons, good to know ), and what they just won't cover. It seemed a little too good to be true reading how much they were covering, but it turns out they won't cover several types of BMWs (for example, no M cars), so I get the feeling feel like the 135i sneaks under the radar. They also charge more for FI engines. I see all of that as a good thing because while I like not paying a lot for a warranty I might not use... I also don't want the warranty company going bankrupt covering HPFP and leaking turbos. At least not before they get to fixing mine |
