1 Series Canadian Drive Events....
Any 1-Addicts Canadian members' attending the 1 Series Drive Events?
Vancouver dates are April 4th to 6th. The event will be held in two-hour time slots, with some closed course time in both the 128 and 135. I'm going! |

This makes me very sad as I have received nothing. Any special tricks you can PM me?
Also, have you already ordered a 1'er or are you just looking? |

I do not have a car on order, but I am strongly considering the 135i as an upgrade from the 05 MINI S.
I think I had around 60 "points" all together. Have been a BMW customer since 2003, so perhaps that helps (03 Cooper, 05 Cooper S, etc.). The SA told me that they (the agents) really don't have control over who gets selected (the marketing folks are in charge of this), but I think he made a specific request on my behalf to the head office. So I rather suspect my "points" had nothing to do with being selected  Back when MINI was offering the same experience, I was not selected. With all the classic Minis I own, I thought I would have been selected for sure. So who knows what the Marketing folks are looking for during the selection process? Cheers, Rachel |

Yeah, I have about 70ish hits myself. So we'll see if that's enough to get in. Calgary's isn't until later in the month, so maybe it'll be a few more days/weeks till the decisions are made.

The event I did last year in the Mini was lower speed agility stuff. Still lots of fun but you won't see triple numbers on the speedo. |

Sounds good. I did some searching and found the webpage for that driver training area. I'm just excited to finally drive it! The good news I figured my first drive in the 135 would be in my brand new one that I would be driving very gently. Now my first drive I can drive it hard!

Ya, you'll be able to work the steering/brakes/tires over fairly well. You should be able to launch it hard off the line as well

I just talked to a friends that did one of these with BMW before in Toronto. He said it was well run and lots of fun. He said they encouraged you to push it as hard as you could and teach you what to do at the limits. The course they ran sounds like you described...not high speed but lots of fun.
