Bought 135is with 14k miles - Replace all Fluids?

I bought a 135is convertible with only 14,000 miles on it, from an estate of an old couple who passed away. When I bought it, the tires had been replaced as I suspect they were simply too old.

Bottom line, I wasn’t able to get any information about how long the car had been sitting, but given the low mileage, and the fact the people were very old and passed away, I suspect it had been sitting for at least a year, maybe two. It was garage the whole time.

It runs perfect, and I’ve had it for a while now. As a precaution, should I replace the transmission fluid?

If you got a great deal on the car, and have extra cash to put towards it, and are planning to KEEP the car - yes, do the maintenance on schedule.
If you're going to sell anytime soon, meh

Nice find! With only 14k I would not worry about the transmission fluid yet. Post some pics when you can.

I think much of the question is - how handy are you, will you DIY it or take it in and pay?

I'd consider doing pretty much everything. It's a good way to get to know the car a little, too. Not saying you have to do it all but I'd pull up the entire list of fluids and at least consider them. Even with low miles, after a decade or more, I'd start having questions.

Spark plugs and such will be no problem, cabin air filters and such too I'm sure.

14k miles, wow!

Honestly, it's probably more of a comfort level thing. Fluids are pretty stable, but can still oxidize or absorb moisture. Refreshing the fluids now can give peace of mind.

I bought my 140k mile 135i at the beginning of last summer and have been slowly replacing random things this winter, fluids, belts, etc. because things go bad with both time and mileage, and preventative maintenance is way easier than fixing it when it's broke...

I would be more concerned with replacing the brake fluid as brake fluid is hygroscopic. An engine oil change is a no brainer. I’d also flush the cooling system and refresh that before transmission or diff fluids.

When I bought my last car it had 12k miles on it and had been sitting in a garage for years. Make sure your tires have in fact been replaced!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the car?
