1 series 2006 top tether location

I’m looking to buy a forward facing car seat for my son and they all seem to require a top tether to anchor the car seat. For the life of me, I can’t locate the top tether point in my car. Can anyone help?

If this is an E81 or E87, they should be on the back side of the seat in the midpoint (horizontally) of the seat (the middle circled area in the screenshot below, not the two offset that are also circled):

For E82, they'll be on the rear parcel shelf behind the rear headrests. Not sure on E88.

Thank you for this! It’s an E87 but I can’t see the tether point. Back of the seats are covered up, do I need to remove the back of the seats…? Clearly, I don’t have a clue!

I'd be surprised if you had to remove anything. It could very well not have been an option for the 2006MY (I'm afraid I don't know a great deal about the E87 since it wasn't available in the states).

Do you have an owner's manual you can refer to or photos of the back of the rear seats you can share?

Yes, but there’s nothing helpful in there! Thanks for your help, I might just pop into BMW and see if they can shed any light 🤞🏽

Good luck.

I just found a manual - looks like they only had ISOFix / LATCH attachments in 2006. One idea: could you possibly use one of the lower partition net hooks that are at the base of the back seats in the cargo area (assuming the top tether is long enough to reach)?
