That's cool mate, no problem.

I suggest you call Pete on Monday, as he will have more time to discuss the Meth' tank with you.

I saw this in person the other week on Pete's own E92. I'll definitely be getting the E82 version when warranty runs out.

Hi guys,

here are some pics of the first E92 production sample.

Please note that the tank is yet to be anodized, it will be dyed black following the anodizing process.

The final pic illustrates the baffle, we have carefully incorporated into the design of the tank.

This will prevent any surging of the Methanol pump under extreme driving conditions, when the tank is low in Meth'.

Out of curiosity how many of you 1 Series guys would be truly interested in an E82 version?

If there are a handful of you out there, I can certainly lean on Pete a bit harder to get cracking on an E82 prototype.

Cheers,

JD.

Very nice Justin... very nice indeed!....

Can't wait to see the anodized version. Will the E82 capacity be bigger?

And have we confirmed where it is going to go on the E82?

I think more people would be willing to confirm if they want it or not if we have an idea on what it is going to look like and where it is going to be located.

Any rough specs would be good too.

Hey Vinney,

yep, it's a rather nice looking tank.

I really fail to see why many of the US guys are hounding me to knock up a plastic version.

Sure for the purchaser a plastic tank would be somewhat cheaper than our anodized aluminium version, but it sure as hell ain't gonna be as sexy.

The E82 tank will have a larger Meth' capacity than its E92 counterpart.

Cheers,

JD.

I'm really keen to see how the E82 version turns out. Pete explained it to me over the phone and I think he's come up with the best way to utilise all of the space without having to move the battery so it's a true plug and play.

I agree the aluminium looks really sexy, especially anodized in black I like the whole concept so far, it's exactly what I'm after. Completely stealth tucked away in the boot, with a decent capacity.

Do you have anymore updates on an ETA anyway?

Hey mate,

the below pic should give you a good idea of its location in the trunk space.

It will pretty much follow the contour of the cavity on the left and after deleting the centre divider, the tank sump will extend down into the well, adjacent to the battery.

The top surface will have the same appearance of the E92 version and due to the larger tank capacity, we will probably allow the option, of either a screw-in cap or the "AERO" flush mount.

Cheers.

Cool, I will pass your interest onto Pete.

Hmmm,

the problem with doing a GB on the Meth' tank, is that the retail cost of the tank is largely attributed to the fabrication time, not the materials or components.

I will run it by Pete and see what he says, but unfortunately this is not something we can simply discount further by improving our buy price on the tank components, as it's for the most part workshop labour time.

Hi Vinney,

the battery will definitely be staying put, it will be a "true plug and play" solution.

Peter said he is going to get "young" Chris to dedicate some time to it this week.

If he gets stuck into it, we should have an E82 prototype tank welded up by early next week.

Cheers,

JD.

That's cool,

whist the larger E82 tank will require more fabrication time, we will try to keep the final coat inline with the price of the E92 version.

It will no doubt cost more, but not substantially more.

Cheers.

Thanks for the update JD.

Hopefully you make some solid progress this week and make sure those welds are spot on

Are you able to supply any meth lines and if so, what kind?

Pete said you would be routing the meth lines under the body along with the fuel lines. Will you be able to post a DIY up for us?

I will have to ask Pete what particular type of Meth' line was used in my car, as I currently have a Coolingmist 2.3 gallon tank in the boot.

IIRC the line was supplied with my Cm kit and it appears to be of a high quality, but I'm sure Pete can source the equivalent or perhaps better locally.

We can certainly post up a DIY for you interstate guys.

Yes indeed,

I am told "young" Chris made some solid progress on the prototype E82 tank today.

Also it looks as though it will hold quite a bit more Meth' than the E92 version.

I will be verifying the correct volume of the tank on Saturday.

Cheers,

JD.

Ummm, a lot!

I was going to calculate the tank volume on Saturday, but it was not exactly water tight...

Given the progress made last week, we should have the prototype completed this week.

Here are a few pics that illustrate the tank design, enjoy.

Cheers,

JD.
