Very easy assumption to make. I for one was jealous and mad to find out a new navi was in the works. While I am still jealous it will be a "better" system, I'm very glad my 1 does not have that unit sitting on the dash.

They have options for the front windshield solar shade tint and just some of the weirdest options that come stock in NA Bimmers.
Those are good points.

Still, I wouldn't have minded a "sunroof delete" option and a "smoker delete" option to realize a little savings on features that are not essential for me.

Umm...No.

I expect better dash design and integration from BMW. This is not a bash the new navi because I have the old thread. The 3 series forums will bash us enough for this.

Here's some more, taken at the Welt today as I waited to receive my 2008 135 w/ iDrive.

I'll have to agree that it just doesn't seem to look right. Alas, I may be biased considering my I was moments from receiving my 2008 ;-)

Definitely the size of the screen and the capabilities of the new nav are incredible compared to the old one. Some don't like the new screen but let's face the true, the old one wasn't pretty either.
True, but you could close it when you wanted.

Well, in my case, I can see there being times when I don't want this massive thing sticking out of the top of my dashboard.

I have one more photo I took from through the rear window to get the width. Forgot the polarization filter, sorry about the reflection.

Regarding the brushed aluminum trim.... I originally that it was awesome too. However, I think I actually might prefer the Glacier Aluminum after seeing and touching the brushed Aluminum.

I can't wait to pick mine up now. It's killing me that it is just sitting a few miles away at the dealership.

Damn Belgium Post. Where are my number plates?!

I am not 100% in love with the new iDrive but I would like to see it in person. The resolution is supposed to be much better but it does look like an afterthought to me.

i like the pop up screen better. seems "neater" and more organized.
i would think the nav screen would be DOWN at most times for most drivers....

by the way, NICE CAR enjoy

For the size of the screen the still did pretty good job fitting it there (It is quite low so it doesn't stick out to much... (for the size) The plastic finish could be of the better quality though (just by looking at it on the photos)

The bottom line is people are entitled to their opinions.

123D M - Congratulations on your new 1! It looks great!

I have an '08 w/ Nav and purchased at the end of the model production year (could have waited a few more weeks for the '09 idrive).

I bet after a month or so folks will get used to the new idrive change.
Enjoy the enhanced features and new settings.

In the meantime, enjoy you 1 and post some when time permits!
