DAMMIT!!

I drove over to my dealer, saw the car, sat in it, played with it, and then they told me "oh sorry, we forgot we need to have your co-signer sign the original copy of the deal."

So now i have to wait for the deal to be overnighted back and forth to my dad before they can let me drive away with the car, which will be tuesday. AAAAAAHHHH!!!

Oh well, i test drove the 330i for the first time last June so it's been one hell of a wait for me. I guess another 4 days isn't going to kill me. Maybe.

Oooohhh...sure you didn't order a "Bummer" instead of a Bimmer? Seriously...that's a real bummer! It's going to be a LONG 4 days, I'm sure! At least you got to sit and play with it. That has to have you salivating!

Take some pics when you pick her up!

And by the way folks...if you plan on putting Zaino on your car...my advice....DO NOT CLAYBAR it first. I'll start a thread in a bit explaining why, but needless to say....today was NOT a good day! I'm hoping for a way to minimize everything. (how's that for vague?)

Thanks for the heads up Fletch - my Zaino kit is in the mail. I'll be looking forward to your thread. Hopefully your car is o.k.

I think it will be fine. The claybar portion of my wash today didn't go well. I'm not sure why, because I followed the DIY sticky's advice, and did everything as I was supposed to, but it left micro scratches all over my car. I'm confident they are removable (same sticky has a section how to completely remove such scratches), but I'm going to get some advice in the thread I started just to be "overly" sure how it should be done. Worst case, a professional will most certainly be able to do something about it.

The rest of the Zaino....don't worry!

Good news....sounds like the micro scratches I have can be removed. It will just take some work to do so.

I'm smiling again!

Shipmates!!! What a day!!! Haven't stopped grinning, laughing and smiling since 5pm earlier today. I am exhausted!!

What a car!! Absolutely no regrets. The miles just accumulate easy on her, I have 100 miles on her already ... sheeez

Thoughts of taking the time to take memorable delivery pictures were overshadowed by sheer excitement during delivery.
So all I can offer you guys tonight is this crappy picture

But I promise more presentable pictures tomorrow morning. Have a long day of driving planned

Btw CA threw in chrome tips, all-season mats, valve stem covers and the obligatory keychains. Tomorrow the chrome grilles come on

My excellent CA gave me some insight on why my car was able to be loaded onto a vessel so quickly.

We all know that priority-1 cars (customers sold) have, well, priority over priority-3 (stock) and others. This designation is clearly marked on the car as well as documentation. Some dealers, as an extra service to their clients/dealership maintain good relationships with the people in charge at the ports as well as the VPC. In addition, some CAs/dealership make it a point to attach the customer's name on the priority-one designation, supposedly, making the car seem more urgent. Most dealer's do not. Another thing to consider is volume. The more volume, the more preferrential treatment they get in VPC processing as well as at the docks....interesting.

Haha, I was the same way - the only picture I got at delivery was of the odometer. At least you got one you could post for us - I can't wait to see some other pictures of your baby.

Nice haul. I got all-season mats, valve stem caps, wheel locks, three keychains, two BMW pens, and a full tank of gas.

Ok did a couple hours of bonding this morning

Counting down to the final delivery, I had some last minute doubts over SG. Now that I have taken delivery, I must say it is quite the rich and dynamic color and am very happy with it. I am also pleased with the black and poplar interior combo, imho poplar is a wood that is hard to photograph (because it sparkles, photos show much more yellow than irl). It just looks different irl and within the context of the whole interior. Very nice!! Even the 156 wheels are starting to grow on me ...

Mini-review: The car has been a barrel of laughs to drive. The steering is nice and substantial feeling without compromising road feel. The handling (even in non-zsp config) is surefooted, sharp and agile. I haven't found a sweet spot in the seats yet. The lights are brilliant!! Standard stereo is quite crisp and Sirius reception is quite good (albeit a touch flat sounding). The leatherette is rather nice as well (missing the aroma of leather, though). Even in a relatively stripped example as mine, nice touches abound like the nifty ambient lighting, footwell light and puddle lamps.

Finding it rather hard to 'behave' myself within this trying break-in period. The little voices in my head urging me to 'cane' the car gets rather louder with each hour spent in the car Even the car seems rather unimpressed with my baby-footing and sulks every now and then. *sigh*

Altogether, the wait has been worth it and I feel very satisfied with the car ...

Btw BMW New Car Smell should be bottled and made commercially available ... very intoxicating

Thank you for your kind words ...

The car looks great Mr. K!! The chrome accents look very nice - I'm a big fan of them. Plus you gotta love the 5 minute installation time. Time and money well spent.

Great news! I Zaino'd my car today (was told it was alright to do so), and the results are no less than amazing! The scratches, or evidence of them, are hidden! The car looks great, and I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow. It was just too late when I got done to get those taken, but I'm no longer sick!

I absolutely love the SG! I cannot believe how many colors come out depending on the ambient and direct lighthing it receives. I've seen variations and combinations of blue, blue/gray, purple/gray, brown, brown/gray, almost black, etc. Honestly...they all have a very unique hue to them, and I've not seen a color it presents I didn't like! What a color!

Hehe...I've been all over the board with respect to RPMs. Not really babying her at all, but not abusing her either. I've managed to exceed the "recommended" 4500 a few times, but just long enough to let my baby know I love her! Besides...I'm from the old school (motocrosser from way back), and the standard wisdom was to break in one's ride the same way one expected to use it. I'm not going full bore, and won't, but I'm not going to baby her all the way to 1200 miles either!

Same here! Once I got past the sick feeling after my claybar, and remedied it with the Zaino, I've not had a single bad feeling associated with the car at all! And I've already got two compliments on my ride. Oddly, both while at a gas station at night where flourescents abound (when, IMO, the SG looks its absolute best).

You like BMW's new car smell? I find it a bit too strong on the "chemically" side of things. No big deal though...it smells new!!!

Shipmate Fletcher: Glad everything worked out wrt zaino and claybar incident. I am with you on SG, it looks richer irl than the many fine pics on this forum might show, it sure made my car

Have been getting compliments on the color as well as the interior combo, friends seem to think the poplar wood elevates the interior, even people who are not into wood in cars ...

One downside: I've become super paranoid over parking. especially in crowded strip mall parking lots often populated with mini-vans and SUVs being driven with marginal competence. I estimate in a door-swinging-dinging incident the sharp crease running down the side of our e90s would take the brunt. Not an easy fix, I'd reckon.

Oh and another thing, the brake dust problem is quite bad. My wheels have started to look as if I had ordered the optional 'gun metal' finish

Btw I owe you an email ....

Mr. K!

Hey, if you can get the pics from the camera to the computer, it's not difficult at all to upload/attach to a message. At the bottom of each page is a section for "quick replies." Below the quick reply box are two buttons. One is to post the quick reply, the other is labelled "Go Advanced." Click on the Go Advanced button. This will take you to a much larger section where one can input their message, and below the message input area is another section called "Additional Options." In that section is a button labelled "Manage Attachements." Click on that, and you'll see several text input areas, alonside of which are buttons browse your computer for the location of your photos. Click those as necessary, tell it where the photos are, then click the "Upload" button to the right. Once it's finished, it will indicate the files uploaded, and their sizes. Close the window at that point, then submit your message, and your pics will be attached.

One quick tip...if you know how....resize a COPY of your photos to something like 800x600 so they fit better into our thread viewing area. No harm done if you don't know how, but it makes it a bit more readable/viewable if you can resize them.

Hope this helps. Oh...by the way...I noticed you never quote the person to whom you respond. Not sure if that's by choice, or you don't know how, or that you can, but if you want to respond to a certain message only, click on the "Quote" button in that person's message, and it will bring up a regular message dialogue box with that person's message already quoted. Makes it very handy in long threads, particularly when one cannot respond right away, and one's response can lose meaning and/or a connection to the message being responded to.
You are correct Sir. wasnt quite sure how to do it, I appreciate the help. Once I get my future Daughter in Law to put the pictures on a disc for me Im gonna see if I can follow you instructions on posting them. How do you make the quote smaller?? I tried to highlight just the bottom of your message but it still seems to have picked up the whole thing.. Anyhow sorry we have been gone a while, but we picked up the car thurs night, took a few shots at the dealer. She took it to work Fri, and then we took off on a bit of a road trip.. I took some more daylight shots just a while ago, but now she needs a bath.. What an awesome car!! Its just fantastic. My wife actually asked if we could get one without a sunroof, Thought she would never use it. As you might geuss it hasnt been closed yet. Stereo is fantasic, still trying to learn everything it does. Handling and ride are simply un believable. My Sister came by to see it, and I think shes going to call my CA tomorrow.. I know all of you folks are as happy as we are. Ours was the first Mystic Blue that Athens BMW has recieved, and three people wanted to buy the car Thurs before we got there. Well its time for her bath so I will be back when I get the photos ready to go...

SG was definitely the right choice for me! As you say...much richer than any pic can do justice.

I'm always concerned about parking in crowded lots, and while I've been relatively lucky with respect to dings, I know it happens all the time, and people are inclined not to stick around to let another know it's happened. Perhaps in that regard I'm a rare commodity. The one time I can recall being dinged in a parking lot, I actually witnessed it done, in a beligerant fashion...WHILE I WAS SITTING IN IT...and the person thought nothing of it, and was getting ready to get into their car, and drive off. They didn't even look at my car to see if there was any damage (and had they, perhaps I would have been noticed). I had the rare pleasure of getting out of my car, walking around to where that person was, noticing my car was in fact damaged, and in a not-so-amicable manner, asking them where the hell they thought they were going? Long story short...I called the cops to at least document the action/damage, got her insurance information, and eventually got the door fixed. People never cease to amaze me! I mean she literally didn't even attempt to avoid hitting my car with her door!!!

Oh and another thing, the brake dust problem is quite bad. My wheels have started to look as if I had ordered the optional 'gun metal' finish
I've always notice that Bimmers in particular seem to have a brake dust problem, but I've always been anal about that too. I put ceramic pads on my Camaro, and I never had a dust problem...ever! I'll probably not switch these out to ceramic, but I did Zaino my rims, and I've been told it's subsequently easy to clean them (just run water over them). But you're right...Bimmers have a brake dust problem...

Btw I owe you an email ....
No problem. Get to it as you have time...and I expected post-delivery wouldn't be conducive to such trivial matters!

Well, it takes some manual tweaking, but it's not that difficult...just a little time consuming. For every quoted portion of a message, there a beginning quote tag, and and ending quote tag. Simply make sure whatever parts of the message (sections) you are quoting, have those particular tags at the beginning and end. You can preview the message beforehand to make sure it worked properly, so there's no danger in messing up your post until you're sure it works the way you intend.

Fantastic! Glad you're enjoying your new ride like the rest of us! Mystic blue is indeed a very nice color. I saw one in the showroom when I was taking delivery, and with the sun behind it some, I initially thought it was black until I got behind it where the sunlight was hitting it more directly. I really liked the look, though I'm still preferential towards my SG. Enjoy bathing her, and be careful not to put those swirl marks on her!
