Has anoyone removed the rear cats and resontor on the stock mids??

Hey guys this is the last thread i'm gonna make for a while.lol..I just added my 3 inch d.ps to the mix with my jb4 and saw 2 extra rear cats and a box style resonator in place..To me anytime I see cats and a huge resonator, it's a restriction on power and spool up..Has anyone removed these parts while keeping their stock axle back intact??I was thinking of maybe replacing the cats' with a pair of vibrint straight threw resonators, and maybe either keeping the rear box resonator or just remove it and maybe add a third vibrint to reduce drone and rasp..My goal is to get the most out of my stock exhaust, while keeping things civil!!!I want it as a sleeper ,only loud wot.WHat's your insights has anyone done this????Thanks again.

i have a full berk street exhaust, which changes the secondary cats and the midpipes and the front pipes as well, its a downpipe back system. Right now i dont have downpipes on my car (coming soon), but it sounds pretty quiet during regular driving, and then it really picks up when you hit the gas. downpipes do add some sound to exhaust systems, so i really couldnt tell you if it i is going to be the sound you want, but i love it, and i wouldnt mind my setup if it got a little louder

This is JK135i's car. He has AR design 3" catless DP's, Berk Technology Resonated mids and Berk Technology race exhaust.

And this is me with my 135i, Raceland Catless DP's, N55 catless mids with stock resonator and Berk Technology Street exhaust. It's gonna sound a bit louder since I have the video camera close to the exhaust. I have since moved up to the AR Design 3" catless.

I know Rimas. I have since I changed to the AR 3" DP's. Much of the rasp is gone and it does have a lower tone. That was mainly why I decided to use a Exhaust and not a straight pipe setup. I've been tempted to re-install the stock exhaust to see how it sounds but that will have to wait until early October. Once I do that I will post u a vid.

Are you in Germany?

Notice any difference once you swapped your downipes from Raceland to AR? Sound? Power?

Rimas - we are all in Bavaria. Me in Bamberg, Nick in Villseck, JK in Illisheim. The rest of the gang (Ricks135i, Mr Kleen, ect) are in the Heidelberg & Ramstein area.

Let us know when you are coming. Maybe we can have a litle euro-meeting.

On the sound department, it got deeper and most of the rasp was gone. Power wise, definetly a good improvement going from 2.5" to 3" as you can feel the turbos breathing better because of the diameter change.

If you use any aftermarket midpipes you need to make sure that they mate up to the stock exhaust. If you have an N54, I would suggest you to do the N55 midpipes(catless). That is what I have on my car. To me a resonator is a resonator(my opinion) regardless of brand or type. Unless it has a baffle redirecting exhaust gases, they are mostly straight through. The stock one on our cars are straight throughcoming from 2 pipes into 1 and mating to the exhaust. If you want stealth, that would be an option there.
