After reading this thread and second hand prices on carsales, I am bewildered !! not one second hand 135i for less than $80k, yet the OP bought new for $79k..

When will low $50s be realistic for a used 135i???

Hopefully while there is still a high demand for the 135 the resale will remain reasonable. Also depends immensely on the factory options fitted which can add up to $15k to the price don't forget.

I expect my 135i will be $50K upon trade in in 4 years time. I will still be low in mileage. about 40K km

I suspect the 135 will only be worth around 50 to 50 odd after 3 years, even less with trade in. Cars are losing their value much quicker nowadays.

Selling price if often very different from asking price. Two more years you should get one in the 50's.

A bit optimistic IMHO.....I was offered $60k by the dealer for my July 08 135i with 17XXXXkm on the clock a few weeks ago. Realistically I'd settle privately for around $75k.

Depends on options... 17XXXXXkm. or 17000km? $75K private sale is really depends on options.

You are probably right $50K is the best I would hope for. Being the safest colour, auto, sunroof, comfort entry... I went for the safest options. I am realistically $50K private sale (70% of car value at start) rather than trade in after 3 years. That is 4 years from now anyway... if I won a lotto I would have not care so much wouldn't I?

I bought my 135i (mid 08) second hand in May for $67k. 6MT with most options (prof nav, sunroof, adaptive headlights top end sound, electric lumbar.. I think it has every option bar adaptive steer). 20,000kms. Very good condition, but not a new car (some rim scrapes, and a scrape under front bumper).

I think think I got it for a good but not great price... I needed it quickly, and not much else out there.

Yes the first year you lose a lot of value of the car. That is why people pay for a new car. Generally I have seen a steady decline in the 3rd and 4th year and after that depends if there is a new model.

Let hope the resale will stay up huh?

That is a crazy low price! Best price I got on a similar car (same except no CA, but auto) was $86,500.

What dealer did you get it from?

No the actual full retail on road price before I started bargaining was 83,500...

And I have to wait 3 months for it as it is an order...

The guy stuffed me around when I was originally looking to buy pre June 30 for financial year reasons so now he's looking after me...

i'll tell you who it was after i've bought it...

Full retail with on roads $83,500? That doesn't sound right... Sounds like just retail without on-roads?

A 135i, metallic, pro nav and auto came to $90k on road. Your car has CA but no auto so should only be a little less?
